Ms. Vickie, I can’t help but be nosy but I read someone in the comments saying they were still praying and things will get better. I didn’t find your channel until the Greek chicken kebabs so I was late to the channel. I would like to tell you I’m sorry too because I went back and saw your video about it. You needed some time off well where have you been? I believe that was back in January. I didn’t celebrate much this year myself. I come from a very small family. It was only myself my daughter niece, nephew, brother, and mother. Well, this is been two years ago now my mother died January 19, 2021 I believe she died, because my brother passed away in January 2020 and she couldn’t get over her broken heart but now she didn’t have our daddy or her husband. He passed away six weeks before she did and my daddy‘s been dead for years so she didn’t have any partner to help her. It was just her and I basically the kids were sad but they’re young, and if they it wasn’t their child, he was my brother I washurt he but wasn’t my child. Everybody thought he died the same way as your daughter. It sounds like he did have drugs in his system and we do believe that that is what killed him. He was only 42. He was also my best friend and my mama was my bestest, best friend, so I was very very very sad and have been and I felt too. So I will pray for you and I’m so sorry that has happened to such a wonderful sweet family. Thank you for your videos and I did buy the fork off the Greek chicken kabobs video so thank you for the advice.. I could talk longer, but I have to go answer the door, but I want to watch your video SALT next. I was just thinking about that this weekend. LOL

Thank you Meehan. It has been 10 months, and it is still difficult. Not only that, but other things related to it that we haven’t made public - although I might still do that. We gave law enforcement the time and space they wanted. Absolutely nothing has happened. Some people have physically and verbally threatened me. I have had a hard time getting back on schedule with my videos, but my energy has been taken up in other ways. Thank you for your encouraging words and support!

As we do not drink alcohol, what can I substitute the rum with?

@@donnacarr3782 yes but the half cup of rum in recipe must be subbed with something else.

I haven’t tried it, but you could probably use apple juice.

I’m so glad you did this recipe. My mother mad me rum cakes for my birthday when I was a little girl. They were my favorite. She stopped making them for me and now that I’m in my 40’s I keep thinking about those rum cakes. My birthday is coming up this month so I am making it for myself.

I love Rum cake. The times that I've made it, it was from scratch. I'd like to try this simplified version...but I don't care for pineapple. If I was to skip on the pineapple, what would I replace the 1/2C of juice that you added to the cake mix? (Can use my glaze...but I don't recall having to boil it...so if I was to use your glaze, again what would I use to substitute the pineapple juice?)

I would try peaches, or apricots, if i didn't like, or have, pineapple. Or maybe even mandarin orange pieces. To substitute the juice, maybe orange juice.

Maybe apple juice for the liquid. You could try adding a different fruit - or not.

Oh Ms. Vickie, that cake looks so good. I usually don’t mind using a cake mix for any yellow cake. I was under the impression that all it really was was just your basic dry ingredients mixed together and it just saves you a little bit of time but if you wanted something a little bit special, we had to add to it your other ingredient she had to add to it is what I’m trying to say I’ve been practicing using my microphone on my phone because it’s so hard to text along messages. No thank you for posting this. It looks so good I’ll let you know when I tried to tell you how good it was. Sorry for any mistakes it’s just me practicing that microphone talk to text. That’s what it is.
