This hymn was roughly composed in 1842. Yup. We may change with the times and circumstances, but our Savior does not change.

I'm amazed so called Christians worship and lead worship of Him of whom Scripture says, "God is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all", in darkened churches, where the focus is on the worship team and their skills and not on God. They perform for people, they do not please God. The noise is deafening, not too different to devilish nightclubs. God is Light. He has called us out of darkness into His Marvellous Light. Blasphemers! God is not mocked.

I love that Paul had re-written his previous rendition of this song and made it more simple. With the previous one, he added sort of a longer chorus but on this one, he just re-used the words that were already in the song and just made a chorus melody out of it. He made it more buy making it less. Both songs were crafted masterfully to be sure. This is where his Brilliance as a song writer meets his heart of simplicity to worship God without the need to be fancy sonically. Praise God for giving this world a Paul Baloche 😊🙏

Why is Paul Baloche credited with the words and music to this hymn? They both have been sung by churches for at least three hundred years. The 'arranged by' is appropriate since he added a few lines.
@firstpresbyterianchurch10023 жыл бұрын
He did not write the words to this old hymn nor the melody--both of which are found in the Presbyterian hymnal and in other hymnals.

Same song! 🙂 Slightly different ending (link below) "...The melody of the song comes from a collection of Silesian folk songs published in 1842..." Seems this hymn is older than we know... at least it seems to have two slightly different variations of origin story. "Maa on niin kaunis is a spiritual song, represented in Finnish, often associated with Christmas, but it is also sung during other seasons and occasions. The melody of the song comes from a collection of Silesian folk songs published in 1842 and the lyrics were published by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben who also authored the German national anthem. The song was translated into Finnish by Hilja Haahti in 1903." Check different versions on "Maa on niin kaunis" - identical beginning! Here's one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJS9f3mYl7qSitk
