Enjoy the history! Question: Isn't the Mary whose portrait you show at 1:22 Mary Sheffield Fairfax (Thomas's mother), not Mary Fairfax Villiers (his daughter)?
@JustineBrownsBookshelf5 ай бұрын
Thanks! No, pretty sure it’s Fairfax’s daughter.

Always like your videos. You need to do a video and tell your story. I think it could generate some interest in your channel.

That’s an interesting idea, Will. Nice to hear from you.

"You need to (...) tell your story." I second that request. "I think it could generate (...) interest in your channel." A video titled "I'm a reactionary and here is why !" won't be recommended like "I'm 21 and I have no friends !" - if it were we wouldn't be here, but enjoy a national 'telli' that doesn't 'manufactures our consent'. Without sliding into flattery, it is an important life story to look into, because it documents the 'churn of fortuna' from one constitutional principle to another in a few generations. Arguably, Justine did tell her story: ('All Possible Worlds: Utopian Experiments in British Columbia' 1995) www.amazon.com/All-Possible-Worlds-Experiments-Transmontanus/dp/0921586469 ('Hollywood Utopia' 2002) www.amazon.com/-/de/gp/product/0921586906/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i1 It's just our inner '4chan piwate' that prevents us from simply _buying_ books, like back then, when we wore most of our hair on the top of our head...

True _Aristotelian_ writing: starting with wondering about what is 'familiar to us' (e.g. a movie) and piecing together facts and events into a conclusive narration of 'original causes' (that is the Reformation and our Modern Age). 18:10 You found a valid aspect of Magna Carta that I hadn't realized, yet (although I grasped a trace of it in Kipling's poem *'Norman and Saxon'* ). The proximity of socialism and nationalism is usually ignored by the contemporary Left, despite being the most prevalent trait of the American and French Revolution and the _decolonization_ movements within the British Empire. 13:42 Once nationalists and socialists encounter the risen Christ, they become able to interact with another in a non-chauvinistic or ideological way - and a 'world trade', based on _fair agreements_ will become possible (currently distorted by secular _supremacy_ that lacks a _cosmic_ frame of reference). Continue this direction, Justine and I'd want to see You in a teaching position, not in Edinburgh, 'the City'or 'Oxbridge' - unless the time has come for such an irony - but at _Lomonosov_ or the recent _Yenching_ - where a _realistic_ analysis of Western culture, free of the usual _idealization_ or _demonization_ , matters most. 16:35 ('Jerusalem' in 1804 by William Blake) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKW2mGCepbNokK8 Pax tecum
