Fairgrounds St. Pete | Florida’s Newest Interactive Art Experience

Fairgrounds St. Pete is a brand new immersive art experience that opened at the beginning of September. This choose-your-own-adventure installation is a weird, wacky, and wonderfully imaginative world that represents the best of Florida Lore.
As you step into the over 15,000 sq feet of exhibit space, you are transported to the Mermaid Star Motel, where nothing really seems to make sense, but once you’ve checked in at the front desk there is no going back. This Meow Wolf Inspired is totally immersive and transports you into the world of the old Florida motels.
According to the Fairgrounds The name references traditional fairgrounds and their role as a place for exhibiting new ideas, as well as recognizing talent, creativity, and innovation. Much like a county, state or world’s fair, Fairgrounds is a place for play and discovery and a venue for showcasing, convening, and celebrating Florida’s creative community and artists. In addition, the word Fairgrounds is a play on words referencing their mission to compensate artists fairly for their contributions by paying not only for their work but also a portion of the profits from ticket sales while their work is on view.

I'm kinda late to this video, but I have a question. As a person with a slight motor disability, are there any uneven floors? Or places that might not be accessible? I just wanted to be sure so that I don't chicken out once we've already paid to get in if we go.

Hi! I think you shouldn't have any trouble! I don't remember any steps to get in and out of the exhibit rooms! There were a few hallways that got a little crowded, so I don't know if you use a mobility aid but for that it might be better if you can go on an off peak time! The only thing I would say is it is a little dimly lit, so if that has any impact on your footing, something to think about! But there were benchs and other places to sit and rest, and the space isn't too big to see in an hour or so! I hope that helps, and if you go I hope you have a great time!! 💛

Amazing! St. Pete is a much cooler city than it was when we lived there 30 years ago. Our favorite getaway is The Hollander Hotel… and now the new Arts & Crafts museum is open a block away from it. Lots to see and do on our next trip!

The Hollander Hotel looks so neat! We love St. Pete! We used to live down there about 10 years ago, and definitely love going back to visit, be definitely don't do it often enough! I've got the new Arts & Craft museum on our list too!

That's such a good idea! We definitely have Tarpon Springs on our list, but I think we are waiting for cooler weather so hopefully sometime in the next few months we can get out there! There is a lighthouse up in that area too which would be very cool to check out!

The tickets were $27 each. or $25 if you are a FL resident or first responder, and there was a $3.50 fee when I bought them online. You pick a specific time to enter, but there is no limit on how long you can stay!

I have a scooter/wheelchair I use due to only being able to walk a little bit, is the place big enough to be able to use it?

Yes for sure! The main room is very accessible, and I would say the majority of the surrounding rooms are easily navigated! When we visited it was pretty new so the smaller rooms got a little crowded, so if you can visit at an off peak time, you'll be less likely to run into crowds! Enjoy!!
