Thank you for this! I work with the Fae, and in the past when I still searched online for information, I would always get these sites telling me to stay away at all costs, that you cannot give them your name, that they will steal your children, etc, etc. It’s very difficult to find accurate information, books are definitely the better way to go (however, they’re still hit or miss). I’ve honestly always found those kinds of articles sad, mainly because it’s so insulting to the fae, it’s just that old fear mongering from the Catholic Church hanging around after so many years. I’ve always believed, when working with the Fae, to be cautious; but also optimistic, respectful and open. So it was super refreshing when I found your channel and saw that the information you post definitely mirrors what I’ve gleaned during my years of working with them. Also, I don’t think anyone who works with them will find your information insulting; I definitely didn’t! It’s super interesting to hear different stories and different interpretations!

I know I'm coming to this video late, but it's fantastic. The gift tradition is something we still practice, I'm from Orkney and you never went to someone's house empty-handed, it's just not done. I wonder if you know something about the Picts. They inhabited Orkney before the Vikings came and my uncle always said I was a Pict because I was little and dark, that's how the Vikings described them in the Orkneyjar. I wonder also if the selkie is in the same category as the Kelpie, a warrior caste? Anyway, before this turns into a novel, I just want to thank you for bringing real knowledge into the light as the Church tried to hide most of it.

I found this very interesting. Thank you for sharing. I've never done a lot of external research on this topic but I was very confused by everyone over on ticktock saying that Fae are "evil" and not to work with them. Everything I know about Fae comes from my Grandmother and mother. I have always been taught to be respectful and cautious to a degree (as you should be no matter what external source you are working with) because you never know what the intent might be of someone else. It's important to understand intent and really trust your own feeling. I can honestly say in my 30 years I have only had one negative experience with Fae. (Come to think of it my family came from Ireland so that may be why.) I can't wait to hear more.
@milferdjones25732 жыл бұрын
Most sources other than primitive church ones relate the FAE as not evil just different and helpful or dangerous in various ways but not evil. I say primitive as in what often lay folk carry on as tradition that may have been official church policy but are not official church policy anymore. Depending on the area and period the Christian church accepted these beings and allowed interaction or example of the Inquisition brutally attacked those who were said to deal with other beings. The very decentralized nature of the Church meaning in example of Catholics the Inquisition could be banning and attacking things that other parts of the church were fine with. In short for both internal and external reasons the many parts of the Catholic Church are legally independent of each others. External reasons especially when the Church had a large army and good chunk of Italy or the Church backing one lord over the rest countries normally demanded that the local Church be legally separate from Rome. Current examples of this is German Bishops threat to take their churches out of the Catholic church over LGBQT issues as those Bishops legally control them not Rome and the across many part of the church sex scandal Rome has not been held responsible for damages as those local Church areas legally under control of it's Bishop. The Popes rules and statements normally cause the people on the boards and members of these separate part to follow them but the Pope has no legal ability to enforce their rule. And the Orthodox hold to before the split in the church rules where each Bishop is independent of all the rest. Genesis mentions other beings who came down from heaven to explain things like the super powered heroes of myth for example. And if my understanding of theology is right the church does not actually deny the existence of other Gods it just forbids worship of them and considers them false gods or lessor gods as they are not the creator they worship.

Loved the video! I can’t remember why but always been curious about this. I have millions of questions but to start ... 1- you mentioned that there may be different reasons the fae want inside. What are ways to know who is leaving gifts and for what purpose. Just a video on explaining basic precautions or things to consider would be great. 2- heard a rumor that you should not say thank u to the fae? 3- a video breaking down the 327 tribes a bit just explaining even the concept of this. Perhaps how you were taught? 4- You mentioned that warrior and scribe class gods don’t chose you but the parasite ones do? But there are only those three? Just got a tad lost there. 5- this one is more personal. I have a condition that means a large portion of my memories are locked away from me at random times. There is however a few memories of being a child and talking and singing and dancing with the wind. I used to call the wind brother wind, mother moon, and father sun. I used to talk to the trees. I was always told it was my imaginary friends but do these memories have any standing in what you were taught? There is more too it but I don’t want to pester you. My questions come grime things I experienced and was mocked for. So a bit nervous to bring it up.

I’ve always been drawn to knowledge. When I pray, that’s primarily what I ask for (when I happen to ask for something for myself). That makes me think I’ve been working with the Scribe class, however, I feel like the Warrior class may also be of interest. So who protects Nature?? I pay homage by cleaning up litter and respecting/appreciating Nature. Which group is focused on this type of behavior?? Thank you 🙏
@wisewitch33754 жыл бұрын
Also, Birds. Are they connected to the Fae or any Celtic deity? And all animals for that matter, do animals have anything to do with the Fae?
@BlackDragonTavern4 жыл бұрын
Ok, addressing the first question, you are likely influenced by Solas, not ancestors directly. We are more often inspired and guided by tides than we are by ships. None of the gods(ancestors) are in charge of nature, and there are very few that tended to it. These affinities are caused by the Titans (Famorians or Solas Beasts) natural processes are a step above the ancestors. On the second one, there are a couple connected with birds, but it depends on what you mean. Are you wondering if there are specific types of birds affiliated to certain gods, or are you asking if there is a fae or deity that is directly affiliated with all birds? Animals are typically connected to the natural process more than to specific entities, but there are several instances of ancestors favoring certain Beasts
@wisewitch33754 жыл бұрын
Slim Yeezus - wow, thank you for the response. Love the metaphor about Tides vs Ships. And I’m just asking about all birds in general, and I suppose, all animals in general. I have an active bird community in my woods and backyard that I feed, and random other animals appear to me often. Sort of seems “Shamanistic,” if that’s even a word. I have strong Irish decent though and I think the “Shaman” class of Celtics were called Cunning folk? Pagan traditions are what seem most aligned with my ancestors/lineage. Based on what you’ve told me, my guess is that these people and their practices were driven by the tides of Solas rather than specific deities or Fae. Really appreciate your response! 🙏

I was born with pychic and empathic spiritual gifts..this makes it easier for me to see and feel and speak to fairys. I've always felt close to the fairys since childhood. I agree with you they are just kind protectors of the earth not the evil ones people make them out to be. The fairys talk to me telepathically they are sadden so many people misjudge them. I believe they are mere beautiful elements that protect and love aniamals and the earth. I also believe there are dark evil spirits and demons who shape shift to look like fairys and try to deceive people but those are not true fairys but demons in disguise. Fairys have only brought me joy and peace in my life. Tranquility and I stand by them. I have fairy gardens all around my house and the fairys are very much friends. 🎀

I can't take too much credit, the Clan of the Black has had many generations fight and die to carry these traditions and stories to me, I'm just the most recent carrier of them. Over 100 generations of storytelling and faithful carrying. I am writing a couple books. It's slow going, because they have to be accurate, but I do release some previews of the illustrations and such through Patreon. Though eventually it will all be publicly available. I'm very glad you've found yourself at home in the Tavern, and I do hope you enjoy every visit 😁

Excellent video and thank you for making it clear that it's alright to accept gifts from the Fae. While I personally have always known this, I tend to find it rather unsettling that so many people fear them and so refuse anything that might be offered. That being said, I have a two-part question about the 'tokens of passage'. 1) Is it possible to receive a token of passage in a dream? and 2) Can a token be given to you as an invitation to enter Their domain/world? I know my questions are very post video, but I was rather surprised when you talked about tokens, as this happened to me and I would appreciate your thoughts on the matter. Thank you for your time and for the fantastic videos.

I do have concern that many individuals who haven't spent much time (nor will they, no matter how many times you suggest they do) researching various mythologies from multiple cultures all across the ancient Pagan landscape will spread this conglomerate of myth as one cohesive pile instead of being able to sort them proper. You could literally take every two minutes of this video and enhance it into a very favorable 15 minute future video with so much to explore and we'd all feel much less overwhelmed by all you have learned. Perhaps, it could be more useful to speak of the Old Ones first from their original culture? I heard Celtic lore, mixed with Nordic/Scandinavian lore, and there was even mention of Kronos who is from Greek Mythos. To leave out these characters backstories is a right shame. There's so much to learn and you've a gift of bein' interesting and enjoyable to hear. If you could take what you've learned and add in a few extra moments for a bit of background here and there, well, there'd be no stopping you! AND people who aren't already in the know would have learned something a little more congruent and less eclectic legwork heaped upon them. Those who weren't raised in the faith or with the stories have such a limited amount of direction. Just a few suggestions from a subscriber.

Hello! There will be more breakdowns of a lot of what was mentioned in this video, and as you said, there is a great deal to unpack. In the near future, there will be supplemental information through blog posts, additional videos, and even revisits to videos such as this that may have left far too many questions unanswered. You made some great points :)

I’ve heard of the seelie and unseelie courts.. Arawn, and Gwyn ap nudd and the wild hunt.. how does welsh folklore tie into Norse/ Celtic lore? Or is it entirely separate?
@BlackDragonTavern4 жыл бұрын
Welsh/Celtic/Gaelic lore is all heavily linked, but Norse myth is more distantly linked. But still has many parallels
@katherinereed80834 жыл бұрын
As I understand it, the Seelie Court is the Summer Court and the Unseelie Court is the Winter Court. The Unseelie Court tends to be more dangerous than the Seelie (though they both are still not to be offended under any circumstance). Arawn is the Welsh name for Gwyn Ap Nudd. (Dust_Hallow on TikTok had a lot of information on him as that is his Patron God. ) As far as the Hunts go, Arawn leads the Celtic Wild Hunt to gather souls. He leads a host of the Fae, of which he is the king. He is also God of the Gaelic Underworld. He brings with him the Cŵn Annwn. They are his hunting dogs. They are white with red ears and noses. If you hear their howling further away, they are close to you. If you hear it like it is next to you, they are far away. On Samhain, you are supposed to leave carved turnips (like Jack-O-Lanterns) outside so that they know that there are living beings in the household and they won't take your soul by accident. In Norse belief, Odin is the leader of their Wild Hunt.

I'm new to your content, but so far everything sounded very interesting. I recently created a channel on youtube where I explore mythological creatures and show how I flesh them out with my art and storytelling. I'm currently getting a head start on research for a video where I introduce fairies and this video and the others I found you made are great resources. Question: What is your clan called by the way? There's a part where I want to discuss the various classification systems of these beings I want to specify where said systems come from, including what clan or culture your Parasite, Warrior, and Scribe classes come from.

Obviously our Clan has a large focus on privacy, but internally we are called the Solas Dubh (Sol loss Duv), or the Clan of Black light. I look forward to seeing what you make, I'm always excited to see a new storyteller shining their light on the world, please be sure to send me the video when it's done 🙏

"Fairies fucking with the camera!" 😂 Brilliant! Could you possibly do a video about the kinds of things fae give as gifts? (or just respond if there's not enough information on that topic for a full video) Thank you for bringing this information to me 😊
@BlackDragonTavern3 жыл бұрын
It's my privilege and pleasure to do so. It depends on what you mean, if we're talking about main line Mythology, it's simple things like stones, gems and seeds, and in later years coins and buttons. In our families lore, it's a lot more interesting and detailed, every type of gift had a meaning and purpose and there were dozens of them👆
@maireadlaybourn5713 жыл бұрын
Well, I've been finding all sorts of pretty little feathers and little beautifully coloured stones that seem to appear out of nowhere (my favourite stone is a metallic electric blue). Also, I've been helping my mum sort out her garden in the nice weather, after pulling up a load of weeds, my mum casually mentioned that she has always wanted foxgloves for her garden but any time she saw them for sale they were too expensive. Only a few days later there are about ten of them sprouting. I can't help but feel like these are gifts, but I have no idea what they mean. Or how to properly express gratitude. Thank you again 😊

Growing up in a hereditary druid house, I always new of the " others" as my mam called them. But as I'm finishing up my formal druidry studies I find it lacking in non catholic influenced information on them. Do you know of any books or resources I can find to give me a more complete accurate understanding?
@milferdjones25732 жыл бұрын
From what I have read the Catholic Church has greatly relaxed rules of their formally "secret" library. This is materials collected on other religions in part of sources often not of the church. One tragedy in history is the Vatican's request that all religious things in the New World especially texts not be damaged and instead sent therefor study and archiving was ignored by local zealots of the Church who destroyed them instead. As most Mayan codecs actually survived I assume many actually did reach the church. They know this as each codec was labeled of a certain location. If this access is real and online in funny way the Catholic church might be the best source of non catholic influenced information. In part because no one else was doing library's in those times in many areas. And also even if Catholic influenced the church is the only source on a lot of it as they the only ones writing at those times or in example of the runes in England, Scotland and Ireland no one knows how to read them. The secret library in the past was every thing the church did not allow anyone but trained church scholars and leaders to access. A real life forbidden books section of a magical library in effect.

I found out I’m actually Welsh, English, Scottish, Irish, and Swedish. I had no idea where I originated from until I did research. I’m super curious in the mythology. but, all of the books I’ve read previously are modern spirituality and faerie witch craft books. They don’t really go heavy into lore. Do you have any suggestions for the mythology?

As far as what you can buy, there isn't much. Tuatha De Danann is a good start. But even that is heavily influenced by christian interpretation.
