In this episode, we continue on with our Streetmachine Drag Challenge 2022 despit finding out later the event being postponed, but we did manage to get the Fairlane ready and on the dyno for some power runs with th enew set up!

looking good fellas, if you stage the 2 ignition feeds to the pump it will fire up straight away and wont take 10-15 seconds to kick in. I usualy send an ignition feed to one and then use a dpo from the haltech to trigger a relay to send the other. then you can set what ever conditions you want to power it. Last one i did i set up so condition 1 activates 1 second after seeing ignition power (to give the staged power) and condition 2 that it needs to see an rpm signal. this way it fires straight up and wont run unless the car is. Or keeping it real simple with what you have already done, you could run 1 ignition feed straight to the pump and the 2nd through the switch. then it would work as it is but wont have to wait for it power up.

Now I’m no turbo expert, it seems to me you have just plumbed water at its hottest to the turbo, made the water even hotter and put that back into circulation without any cooling. I hope that doesn’t come back to bite you. I’m a big fan of the Ford inline 6’s and enjoying every time you guys work on them 👍

This is true, but luckily so far no issues with cooling, hasn’t seemed to have effected it much

won`t bother anything, the volume of coolant flowing around is huge compared to the relatively small amount passing through the turbo, the warm coolant still won`t be near as warm as the turbo core so it`ll still cool well. most important part is making sure the coolant is moving through the turbo, most turbo cars pull water from the same place and use the suction side of the heater pipe into the back of the pump for the return

@@JW-ls2kf I would say it’s a pretty fair amount of coolant being bypassed, the thermostat isn’t a huge opening and the turbo coolant pipe is decent sized. Personally I would try and use a point in the block just after the water pump and then return it to that thermostat housing, again I’m no turbo expert.

@@seanb250 yeah nah doesn`t work like that, there needs to be a decent difference for the fluid to flow and the pressure difference between side of the block near the pump and the pre thermostat side of the thermostat housing would be minimal, if any at all, after the thermostat would work slightly better but still no match for having the best solution, pressure on one end from the thermostat holding flow back and suction on the other end pulling it through, that`s why manufacturers do it that way, including factory turbo barras.. don`t forget coolant flow through the banjo fitting into the turbo is through 2 holes 4 or 5mm in diameter, water pump is shifting minimum 60L/minute at running temp with the thermostat mostly open, recirculating it back through uncooled would be insignificant compared to the head coming from the head

@@JW-ls2kf was more thinking about the water temp difference, not the pressure, the temp at the thermostat housing is the hottest point, just after the water pump into the block would be the coolest point, that was my reason for plumbing it from there and then returning it to the thermostat housing to be added back into the coolant on its way to the radiator 👍

Why not trigger power steering off the fuel pump relay. Steering only works when fuel pump does

are you guys just running the wiring for the boost control in that heat wrapped section behind the turbo? an easy solution for a gate solenoid wiring in an eseries is repurposing the old o2 sensor wiring, can splice a dpo to the o2 signal wire pretty easily at the stock ecu.

I’m really enjoying the channel….can the three of you make a race episode between the sbe turbo ute, the ef turbo coon and what does ol mate drive…the orange panel van?…anyway I think this will be cool, 8th or 1/4 mile best of three shootout.

I don't know this is only a guess as I'm still watching and I'm not looking at the car in person... why not have the water feed on the right of the housing go straight down the passage side then go over the engine along with the oil line?

Hey mate, the reason we didn’t go over the rocker cover is if in the case we need to take the rocker cover off, it would mean we would have to open up the water circuit and rebleed it, so going around the rocker cover means we don’t have to worry about it
