'The sound you don't hear any more'. In the UK it's called folk music. Mostly they do English folk music but this song is Irish.

I actually prefer the straight unaccompanied versions of this song (e.g. Anne Briggs) but Sandy's voice is so good I still love this. The origins of the song go back centuries (at least). The words are beautiful , sheer poetry & the last verse always give me goosebumps. Someone could make the most wonderful ghost story movie based on this song. I think the drum is a tabla. Indian mysticism was very popular at that time.
