The Indiana Transportation Museum continued the operation of their FairTrain between Fishers and the Indiana State Fair Grounds in what had become a tradition for the 1993 Indiana State Fair.
The video shows the train along its journey from Fishers to the State Fair Grounds and back to Fishers. The video features the train passing scenic locations on its trip as well as shots from onboard the train. This year includes the use of steam locomotive NKP 587 and her tool car. As crowds grew to take the train, the length of the train grew to accommodate the extra passengers.
The FairTrain, a commuter train service provided by the Indiana Transportation Museum operated from 1983 until 2015, initially providing departures from Carmel and later from Fishers to the Indiana State Fairgrounds. This was a very successful service, and in some years ITM's FairTrain carried more passengers in the two weeks it operated than Amtrak's Hoosier State carried (from Indianapolis to Chicago) all year.
The video was shot and edited by long time Indiana Transportation Museum volunteer, Bob Blome. The video is copyrighted by Bob Blome and provided to the Indiana Transportation Museum for the express purpose of exhibition on the KZbin website. The Indiana Transportation Museum is grateful of Bob's efforts to record and preserve the history of the museum. Thank you Bob!
