Me in the middle of a work teams meeting forgetting my mic was on“ What’s up everyone! Alex here”lol great review man I really appreciate the review. As a FT lover (who never finished) I’m actually really excited for it!

I honestly think it's cool that Daybreak/Metaphor action-into-turn-based is becoming a thing. I don't have much experience with the manga or anime, but both the Gust RPGs look really fun!

I love the Fairy Tail manga, anime and games. I appreciate your honesty about your feelings towards the series. I'm very excited for this game, my friends see me playing these games and they consider it but I'm always honest about if they'll like it. If you're not a fan the game is not ground breaking, it'll be good but nothing done here other games don't do better. If you are a fan, you'll enjoy the game and appreciate how good of a job they did and how much it's improved. I'm very excited for when my PS5 collectors edition arrives. I'm expecting it next week.

I might want to actually pick this up. Same with Ryza 3. Great video, as somebody who isn't a fan of the series I did enjoy your perspective. Also, nice nails ;)

i invested my teenage and YA years to reading this manga every week religiously, only for it to end with so many loose ends and plot holes. however, as a turn-based game i genuinely think this is something i will enjoy playing as a cozy stress-reliever after playing other games

My dream Fairy Tail game would be something like a combination of a modern take on Ubisoft's Naruto games from the late-00s, with the presentation of CC2's more recent Dragonball games. Maybe it could cover the first few seasons worth of anime content. What with these two games being post-timeskip 'n' all.

If Juvia is your favorite character then you will be surprised what "happens" with her "love" in the new season of the series 😛

I watched about 2/3 of the anime before I got completely fed up with Natsu. I liked the show, but the main character is the worst character in the show. I also didn't play the first game, but I'm hearing this is really good so I might give it a try

Thans for this! I love the Fairy Tail series! I enjoyed the first one despite its flaws and am excited to play this one eventually.

Thank you for this review. I’m a huge fan of Fairy Tail and I’m glad to know that while the story isn’t to your liking you still found it to be a fun experience as a game. Helps me to keep believing that a game doesn’t need to have the greatest story to be enjoyed!

i'm glad they remap Ryza battle system, on 1 trailer they have something like slasher

Yea that’s what I thought too, wrongly. But I’m glad it’s a better real-time/turn-based kind of system!

I quite like the anime and I enjoy the Ryza games. That said I prefer the turn based combat of Atelier Sophie 2, I just like to take my time during combat. I will probably like this game though. Thanks for the review.

Thank you for the amazing review was nervous about preordering it cause of the battle system never played a game like it before with this system but it doesn’t look too bad.

Video games are a medium where I can enjoy anime I fell off of like Bleach and Naruto. Only issue is, they don't tend to make the kinds of games I love for them. Naruto there was that Xbox 360 Ubisoft game though, enjoyed the demo. I'm sad to hear this game doesn't actually have an action combat system and that killed any excitement I had along with the lack of English dub

Fairy Tail means a lot to me, it's not the best thing in the world but it has a special place in my heart, especially the anime when it first aired

Thank you Alex for your honest reviews. I watched the whole Anime before the 1st games and loved it very much. I played all the content and loved how they brought to life the whole Anime. They have added another season of Anime. Now I can't wait to get the game on my Steam Deck.

Thanks for the review! I'll definitely be picking it up. I haven't played the 1st game, but I have watched every single episode of the anime.

Funny thing I did play Ryza 2 and 3 and definitely will replay the former for being the best one so this new style is fine for me, my only concern is they added NG+ mode if i wanted to replay the story without literally starting over and maybe post game content like hard bosses.

I liked the first fairy tail game. The combat system was a less polished Radiant Historia with kickass music. So when I heard they were making a sequel, I was legit excited, until they changed the battle system.

If this sells well Fairy tail Musuo will probably next and I can't blame you for mistaking it for a Musou game its like let make Fairy Tail 2 musou and then they change there mind Lets just make the 3rd game Musou instead They wil probably combine the story of Fairy tail 1 and 2 for the story and I will definitely buy Fairy Tail 2

nice review! I've never played Fairy Tail games before but I'm curious about this.since it's a rpg,what kind of activities are there in the game? you've talked about the combat mostly and the open world/areas etc but I don't think you've mentioned anything about the side content in your review.Thanks.

6:20 on Twitter, they showed off something that allowed you to attack multiple enemies on the field at once, is that unlocked later?

My favourite part of the the first game was the Link Hunt. Can we also stack enemies on this game?
@BacklogBattle6 сағат бұрын
You can’t, but you can fight large amounts of enemies at once, which negates the need to do this.

I like ryza and glad to find out its like it. Sooo how good is it compared to Ryza?
@BacklogBattle22 сағат бұрын
Like I said, it is reliant on you knowing the anime story or the previous game story. But compared to Ryza 3’s battle system it’s definitely very very similar. There’s no alchemy so you don’t have to worry about that. Two very different games, but I like them both equally!
@shawnmichaelsdu85Күн бұрын
Wasn't it annoying that the ennemies don't seem to have feedback when you hit them during fights? And this fights were not too repetitive? :)
@BacklogBattleКүн бұрын
Repetitive is something a lot of people throw around in games and it’s all a matter of perspective because everything in games is repetitive. That said, I enjoyed the game a lot and didn’t really care if the enemies reacted with animations. I’ve played many games whose enemies didn’t have reactions. It’s the least of my concerns as long as the gameplay isn’t affected in a negative way.
@shawnmichaelsdu85Күн бұрын
@BacklogBattle Good for you 🙂. I think it just breaks the "realism" or the immersion, but I will certainly still play this game soon :)

I tried 3 times too. Will try again. Black clover I loved then the animation got so bad. It’s almost like an American cartoon in its animation quality now. But I also can’t get into one piece when everyone loves that. I can’t get thru the first few episodes. The art and main is meh too me. Maybe, much like one piece where it gets better, fairy tail gets better?

There are multiple difficulty levels so you can make it as easy or difficult as you want. I thought it was just right on what’s considered the “normal” difficulty

I just hope the switch version is functional unlike the first game. Like you, I’m not that much of a fan of Fairy Tail, mainly because of the writing, but I have read Hiro’s mangas since I was 13, so this is like a early 35th birthday gift for me. Unfortunately, Koei did as koei does when it comes to their absurdly expensive dlc…

Is it necessary to play Fairy Tail 1 to enjoy this sequel?
@NickSuzuki14Күн бұрын
He mentioned it's a direct sequel. So it all depends on if you think you can still enjoy a game without playing the first part. The gameplay does seem way inferior in 1. So if that type of gameplay isn't something you'd enjoy then I'd pass personally. Maybe watch a video recapping number one.

Honestly much like game one I was hoping that this was gonna be a Warriors game proving to me that the team has learned from their mistakes in making it a Atelier game but for Fairy Tail fans and..... Unfortunately this more than confirms that they didn't learn from their mistakes and it literally is that except it looks a lot nicer and it plays better than game one. And the reason why was that the first game left me with such a bad taste in my mouth because I was hoping for another Warriors game that wasn't the one piece games and Fairy Tail would have been prefect for that IP but no, they went back for the Atelier formula again and it looks just as mediocre. Again the only good thing to have come from this is at least it has the final arc and an original game only story, it has everyone, the gamplay is an improvement and if nothing else if you never liked the Fairy Tail story, then this is an all right alternative and I say this as someone who's only experience with the series is just the fanart and a cross over fan fiction that I've been reading for the past year or so...... And the fanfic does a better job than the actual anime and Manga. In the end I completely forgot that this game came out but honestly it really doesn't look like I'm missing all that much considering how much of a drag the first game was and that was from the switch version and while I know this one has a good amount of improvements, I'm still not feeling it especially after being completely burnt out from the first one and feeling that there is a lot of missed opportunity that this should have been a Warriors game. Still glad that you brought attention to this game Alex!
@ChrisMS0815Күн бұрын
I don't get what the appeal of Warriors reskin games are? Those games have the most braindead combat out there, attacking enemies has no impact and just feels like you're attacking the air. I also don't get how a Warriors style game would have fit Fairy Tail, if you ever watched Fairy Tail the most fitting genre for it as a game is RPG.
@MrDarksolКүн бұрын
@ChrisMS0815 Hey I'm just saying it would've made a lot more sense for us to get a Warriors game for fairy tail than just a basic generic RPG that was easy as hell and felt like it was a Atelier game. And if you're saying that this shouldn't have a Warriors game and it should have just been an R PG then I can say the same thing about one piece because there was no need to have not 1 not 2 not 3 but 4 Warriors games of that series and yet that got 4 Warriors games. If anything that deserves an rpg way more than fairy tail.

Dood stick with this format. We need you more on screen time. Good review, will skip this one. Curious about your thoughts on indiana jones tbh, I know it's not a genre you get into
