The Mahones w/Damhnait Doyle perform "Fairytale Of New York", originally recorded by The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl. From "The Hour" Christmas Special, 2007. A holiday classic!

Very nice. I must say though that Kirsty's voice will forever have my heart. I haven't heard one like hers yet on this classic.

While the original will never be topped, this is best rendition by another band... nicely done

I saw this when it was broadcasted. There I was having a crappy Christmas at my parents, when, Oh, here's your favorite band playing a great pogues tune. Seriously, Finny, Why didn't you marry that girl?

So the English translation for their band is ''my bum or my ass''. Didn't think that one through.

The translation of Pogues is Kiss in Gaelic. The old Pogues band used to be called Pogues Mahones, translating to Kiss my Ass
