Faisalabad (Lyallpur) was originally founded in 1892 in honour of Sir JB Lyall (one time Governor of Punjab who helped to establish the Lyallpur canal colonies and increase food crops for all ) ; the person who was responsible for most of the early construction at that time was Rai Bahadur Bhavanidas . Faisalabad was renamed in 1977 after King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. It's one of the most important industrial cities in Pakistan , often called as the "Manchester of Pakistan ". According to the Economic Survey of 2022 it's per capita income is second highest after Sialkot city.
