Honestly, I hope Mothwing doesn’t go to StarClan when she passes on. Not because she doesn’t have a connection with them, but because the concept of StarClan has caused her a lot of trauma that’s VERY similar to the religious trauma that actual people have. I don’t think she would be very happy living in an afterlife that would constantly remind her of her pain, and could be re-traumatizing in itself. I don’t want her to just fade away, but I would like to see her do something similar to what Ravenpaw did and just live on in an afterlife outside of StarClan. She wouldn’t even have to give up the connections she made during her life, since we see Jake enter StarClan temporarily to greet Tallstar after his death.

Even if we're taking the "authors are Christian" approach to why medicine cats can't have mates or kits, it's still arbitrary because plenty of Protestant clergy are allowed to have spouses and children. Heck, in many Christian communities, the pastor and his wife (as it's traditionally a male pastor and his wife, but I've seen other combinations, including a nb pastor and their wife who is also a pastor!) are expected to be role models for marriage. So like. It depends on context.
@GracieFitzpeter2 жыл бұрын
Nah I agree like Im Greek Orthodox and our priests can marry; Ive just personally seen a lot of people act confused about that. Like I remember a scandal where a Greek Orthodox priest cheated on his wife and a lot of people commenting on it were surprised he was married. So obviously different branches of Christianity have different ways of doing things, but just from personal experience I feel like there is a societal idea of holy figure = celibate.

I hold that even with outright magic being real, the atheist cats are very justified in their beliefs. Afterall, the existence of magic doesn't necessarily imply StarClan specifically being real. And with multiple afterlives being simultaneously true, it isn't too farfetched too believe they could attribute it to a variety of other things.
@mysryuza2 жыл бұрын
I like to think that atheists in Warriors are either no belief in StarClan or can accept that the spirits can exist, but don’t worship or follow StarClan. I don’t know if agnostic fits that latter description rather than atheist, actually. Idk what that would be called.
@jaceladag2 жыл бұрын
@@mysryuza I would call that being irreligious. Atheist is about whether you believe or not, so by definition if you belive you aren't atheist. In our culture it's kind of assumed if you believe in the Christian God you *must* worship him hence the confusion, I think. But it's perfectly valid IMO to not worship or interact with every supernatural entity you may or may not believe in.

*Long comment alert* I like to make OCs based on issues I see in the series, but some turn into full-fledged storylines with multiple Clans full of characters, one of which I'm calling Bellstar's Tale. Bellstar was overall a good leader, then she's found bleeding from a wound on her neck with noone knowing who did it or how they didn't leave pawprints. Even worse, that was her last life: she was just dead now. But Bellstar's reputation was tarnished when, somehow, her spirit is seen roaming Clan Cat Hell and immediately she's a bad person to everyone. Well, everyone but her son Splashedpaw and the medicine cat Coldfish, who both think something's off. The two protagonists are Splashedpaw (obviously) and Lichenpaw, who has a StarClan-given gift of being unable to lie: he considers it a curse, as if he even tries to lie he goes mute until he either changes the subject or tells the truth of the matter. But forget Lichenpaw for now, right now we're focusing on Splashedpaw and Coldfish. Coldfish offers to bring Splashedpaw to StarClan to ask about what happened, but StarClan just dodges all the questions and gives no answers. So Splashedpaw tells Coldfish that if StarClan isn't saying anything, maybe the Dark Forest will. Now Lichenpaw comes into play. Turns out he was already there, and had gotten Bellstar as his mentor. But rather than teaching him to fight, she just... talks with him. Eventually she convinces him to stay up one night to stargaze with her outside the Dark Forest. The two cats talk for a while, when Lichenpaw asks why she took a turn away from StarClan. Here's some dialogue: Bellstar: "Well, Lichenpaw, you know of the stories of the day the sun went dark?" (referencing Power of Three) Lichenpaw: "Yes, what about it?" Bellstar: "The sun is a star. If the sun can go dark, so can StarClan. And just like the sun, if you stare too long at the stars, you your judgement can go blind." Splashedpaw didn't see that conversation, but Lichenpaw did see him in the Dark Forest a few times and decided to tell him about it. So Splashedpaw decides to ditch training with his own mentor this time and goes along with Lichenpaw. Bellstar doesn't mind, considering that Splashedpaw is her son. And so the two apprentices ask about why she's in the Dark Forest anyways. She decides that a cat who can tell no lies (even if he doesn't know it's a lie) and her own kit deserve to know, so she tells them about what happened the night she was found dead. Turns out StarClan needed her deputy to become leader, but she was a bit too young to die of old age just yet (still a senior warrior, though). So a few StarClan cats enter her dreams to remove her from her position by just killing her Freddy Krueger-style. Like any sensible cat would in this situation, Bellstar fights for her life: it's better to die fighting then let it happen, even if it was someone you trust and look up to. But of course, because she killed a StarClan cat, she gets sent to Clan Cat Hell and that's where this whole situation started. Splashedpaw and Lichenpaw are skeptical, but when Lichenpaw is able to repeat it without being put on mute, they realize that StarClan is who's to blame for all of it. Not sure where to go next, but it's my weird idea.

What a phenomenal video! Honestly, the craziness surrounding starclan is the reason why I haven’t read past TNP. A part of me wants to, but I can’t take “cats literally fighting and double-killing hell ghosts” seriously. To me, this focus on the afterlife shows how hard the Erin Hunter team stretched this premise to get a full story which is sad because “feral cats with a tight knit society dealing with each other and the natural world” is such a fantastic premise with a lot of potential! This reliance on their religion causing issues is so strange and off putting to me.

As someone who's reading the last book of TNP, and who read the Manga revolving around graystripe trying to find the clan again, I can agree I wanna skip all the chatter of 3 power like felines and just see firestar's death. I don't know why, but the last hope has an exception.

I remember while reading Power of Three, I just started to miss the structure/world of the first arc, so I closed the current book and began rereading Into the Wild (which gave me an "here's the magic of these books" feeling). But yeah, I remember, and miss, when the story was "here's some cats out there going through daily life", and not "here's a magical land, with supernatural cats, oh and here's a bunch of scenes that confirmes what happenes to dead cats and how their afterlife is going". I know the 1st arc wasn't 100% realistic (bloodclan cats having dog claws covering their own claws, really erins?), and it was more cool than world breaking for me when we got to actually see Firestar's leader ceremony, and what it was like losing a life, but it wasn't shoved in every cat's face or "there" as a major part of the story/overall plot for the rest of the 5 books (plus prophecies/warnings was, for the most part, - can only think of Firestar seeing himself as a lion as an exception - , sent through things that could actually occure in nature, or through downright nightmare filled dreams). Same with powers. Leafpool and Squirrelflight's connecting didn't really breake immertion for me, as it's the type of power you hear some people say they have as well. Same with Goosefeather's and Yellowfang's, plus they were all some generations apart, and the only ones of their generation (across all the clans as well). Then Power of Three, and later the other arcs, came out, and suddenly we have timetravel, timeloops, past lives, superpowers, 2 spirits apperently being able to be in 1 body (and the "passenger" can just up and leave to go to the afterlife later down the line on their own) you can be forced to dream/go to different places while sleeping, what happenes in dreams affects you in the waking world (be it wounds or straight up dying), your body could become possessed, your spirit could become mind controlled and/or summoned, you can cut off the connection between the living world and the afterlife with vines or twigs or whatever was used, there's a cat and another animal who has been around since apperently the dawn of time and holds more knowledge about their world than their afterlife does, your spirit can in fact be killed, your body and spirit can just be erased from exsistance (different from dying as a spirit who has already left its dead body) , everyone! can just see the spirits of their dead ancestores bouncing around right after their body dies and before they go to Starclan, and said spirits can physically help out living cats in need while in the living world. Had they only introduced reincarnation, it would have, while been a bit of a leap from the last 2 arcs, been better in my eyes, as some religions do have it as part of their belief, and most cats doesn't know that they are or who they were before, so it would have been easier to accept that big change/addition to the world/lore building. But with everything else they made canon at the same time it just became too much too fast, and it ripped away all the mystery, wonder and appeal of the first series. Also, I really appriciated Leafpool (and Squirrelflight) a lot more after Squirrelflight's Hope. Starclan's 100% put them up to this. They forced and manipulated them to take this part and have this be their destiny. And then they have the gall to ask why they should be allowed to stay instead of going to the Dark Forest due to how their life played out and the situation they were in? The cats judging them had done the exact same things themselves, without Starclan pushing them and blocking every other path, and yet instead of bowing their heads, apologicing and treating Leafpool and Squirrelflight like heros, they act high and mighty and question if the sisters are worthy of joining them at their side instead of banishing them to the Dark Forest for choices the Starclan cats themselves set up for and made for them with 0 regards for the two sisters because it was oh so important to all the clans and Starclan itself? This book really made me dislike Starclan, and honestly I would see it as a win at this point if the series ends with the clan cats tearing themselves away from Starclan and actually lives their own lives. If we ever does get that warriors movie, I would see it as a positive change if they stick with keeping Starclan how it was in the first 6 books (if they get more than one movie). Can you imagine if the trail scene had involved Ashfur as one of the cats shown as worthy of staying in Starclan with the, hypocrit, judge cats while they looked down on and asked Squirrelflight and Leafpool to pleade for their case in order to convince them? Plus the scene where, Mothflight I think, says that it didn't have to be Jay, Holly and Lion, and that they could have chosen any cats for the prophecy. 1st, so that a new power they apperently have that came out of nowhere. 2nd, so even when the option to choose a warrior with a mate in the same clan was there, they still decided that it had to be Leafpool who needed to be given the task that goes against her way of life as a medicine cat and! a clan cat? That really didn't make them look any better. Ashfur being in Starclan in the 1st place opens the can of worms that, apperently it's really easy to just lie yourself in. Some moments of groveling and saying you're oh so very sorry, and Starclan will apperently go "oh ok then, no worries. Welcome in", and just sweep any action under the rug. Plus it's the fact that when he 1st appeared as a Starclan cat, Starclan claimed that they had no say in who got there or not, just that the cat's spirit will find its way if it's worthy, so Ashfur apperently didn't even have to convince anybody. If Starclan's only! interaction with/words to Leafpool during this entire time had been "Follow your heart", I could have understood why they would have been dissapointed in Leafpool at the end (and how they could have felt that they obviously meant follow your heart towards your work, family and your loyalty to your code). However!, that would not change the fact that she absolutely didn't deserve a trail and risk going to the dark forest, seeing how Bluestar and Yellowstone had done the exact same thing, and was still seen as these big figures in the afterlife. Heck, Greystripe was seen as worthy enough to instantly be guided to Starclan after having done the exact! same as Leafpool, and Firestar is the most praised cat of all, when he broke the code and went behind his clan's back several times before he become leader (with his only reasoning being that it was the right thing to do/the better outcome/for the greater good to do so, and apperently Starclan was fully onboared with him all those time, cause it's never showen being brought up/never showen it being thrown in Firestar's face as a negative example about him). The Erins seriously, down right ruined Starclan, and most likely only put that scene in cause they wanted one more moment of drama/tention. The fact that the Erins sat there and thought "Cat who birthed 2 of the crusial cats for the clans continued survival/exsistance, cat who devoted her her life to her clan expect for 1 day w/Crowfeather and when having to give birth, cat whom found the place that makes it so we're able to actually watch over and communicate with the clans, cat who was loyal to us and followed our every word/order even when it means living in pain and judgement for it. This! cat, totally needs to defend why we shouldn't chuck her with cats who wanted to destroy and/or control the clans and had no problem leaving a river of blood behind them in order for them to reach their goal. Cause obviously! her actions are so much worse than ex-es that wants to axe off kits that has the mix of the blood of a she-cat he liked and a tom that isn't him, and! his leader because of that fact, a cat that let a rival leader take over her clan and axe off any of her clan mates he saw fit, and a cat that gave his full support and freely/gladly followed two! leaders in their quest to destroy/control all the other clans for their own sake/for their own, destructive, selfsentered wants". 🙄 Sure, that makes perfect/logical sense. I'm wondering if it would actually count as victim blaming. "The tom who nearly killed your kits, two whom we all need for the sake of everyone's future! , and plotted with the enemy to kill your father, whom was also! needed for the same prophecy, and kind off somewhat succseeded regarding how Firestar did lose one life, gets to stay cause he was motivated with too much love towards you little she-cat, and he didn't actually! succseede in ending the life of 4! different clanmates. You! though?! How dare! you be fueled with love for some random tom and bring the very same life into this world that all the clans depended on exsisting in order to keep our group going, you bitch?! Explaine yourself in other ways than "We ordered!/maniuplated! you to do it as our world needs to go on!". If not victim blaming, then certainly sexist.

Just imagine if the story where that StarClan has! to follow the warrior code, cause their whole, living life revolved around that, and if they don't, why should they expect the living cats do it in order to honor them? That would explain, and cause conflict, with why cats like Brokenstar, Tigerstar and Blackstar got their 9 lives. They were the deputy rightfully chosen, and the leader is dead, so it's now their duty/destiny to take over/fill the position, and the cats (both living and StarClan) just has to hope that the cat doesn't cause misery and pain, with a new cat ready to continue that reality as deputy. Plus it would support the "we don't/can't control you and decide your life for you" mindset of theirs, even in situations where the living cats probably would want! the StarClan cats themselves to come down and demand/force a differance. That could also be used to explain why Nightstar didn't get any extra lives. By law Brokenstar was their rightful leader, and he had not held/chosen Nightstar as his deputy (not a good reasoning considering the situation and that the whole mess would be solved by granting him his 9 lives, but it would keep the "we're bound by the code and can't interfere with your still living life" world building consistant, and paint StarClan in a more grey light, instead of showing them as a force of ultimate right/good, cause they know Brokenstar, Tigerstar and Blackstar's pasts, and what they could/would do to their clan/to the clans upon being granted ultimate power, and they still choose to stick to the code, that was made so that the living cats can be viewed favourably by them, no matter what and risk everything and keep the suffering/ruin going). And also for situations where both the leader and deputy is dead, StarClan would still have to let the living cats decide/vote for who should lead them next, in order for them to actually be in control of and living their own lives (maybe the 4 first leaders would have something to say, as they were chosen by their very first ancestores, and knows what that situation is/feels like, and choose the cat that would have been chosen as the next deputy had the old one not died before they became leader, but the rest of StarClan would stand to the side in order to not pull any strings and puppeteer any cat, and because that "destined to be the next deputy" mentioned cat might now have a new destiny that could/should play out - sort of like Cinderpelt suddenly being ripped from the warrior path and put on the medicine cat path -. Could cause some tension between the different StarClan cats as well, so show how they're still mostly just like what they were like when they were alive). Also, something that could have helped the cats when it comes to getting judged. Show flashes of the newly dead cat's life, based on their feelings during/after their bad/evil deeds, had they ended up living to an old age instead. Would they have lived a life of regret and/or trying to atone, or would they have been happy with their crimes, and/or gone on to do more rule breaking? Sure, it might sound too out there and too magical/mystical, but I say f it, seeing how we at this point already have timetravel, reincarnation, timeloop (modern Jayfeather affects the ancient's lives so that they can become the clans and Jayfeather can be reborn), the connection between the living world and the afterlife can be cut off (using vines, twigs or whatever it was) spirits that has been alive since the dawn of time as they're cursed to live forever, dying while dreaming, summoning spirits/ghosts, being erased from all/every plaine of exsistance, spirits/ghosts being able to be killed a second time even though they don't have a body that relies on air or blood, bodypossession, manipulation/control over spirits/ghosts, cats with magical powers, and spirits/ghosts can come down/show themselves and physically help out a living cat in trouble anyway. And, While Quick Water is long gone, Shadowstar sure isn't. She should definetly had spoken up for Juniperclaw, seeing how the cat that axed her off and tried to destroy her clan was granted, apperently, automatic access into StarClan along with her by simply just saying one "Sorry, that was wrong of me" line. The trails StarClan have should really include StarClan cats who have broken the same code and gotten in, who are willing to speak on the behalf off and support the cat being judged.

Perhaps one or more of the editors either believe in the “Just World” paradox, or otherwise just see it as a compelling reality to write stories in? Where Karma always catch up to the villains regardless of how much they gain advantage or are given undeserved power, and like-wise all truely good people will inevitably get rewarded for their deeds regardless of how much bullshit they deal with in the meantime. Therefore, Tigerstar and other leaders that are accepted by their clans still get their lives, because it’s not Starclan’s duty to oppose the system, since “Fate will always steer things in the right direction eventually.” It might not just be that Starclan’s powerless to nature and Fate. But they are near completely subservient to it.

I figured that cats in the afterlife can’t have kits because they don’t have a physical body to do it, since we don’t know how spirits have babies with each other (besides mythology), at least as Warriors are concerned. The motive of Bluestar getting deputyship is hugely ironic af, which makes her act of giving up her kits look straight up pointless. But thankfully, her kits knew how to swim and were able to save Fireheart and retrieve Bluestar before she dies later. While some of her conclusions are just ridiculous, I can’t help but feel my heart breaking when I see Bluestar interpreting that StarClan was punishing her and abandoned her, as I had these similar feelings when it comes to feeling as if God abandoned me and was punishing me instead of protecting me from an abusive parent and how my life turned out growing up. I understand her paranoia, but I can’t excuse her terrible job as leader when it rolled in. Honestly the “StarClan doesn’t make mistakes, it’s all supposed to happen” thing feels too much like how people say that it’s “God’s will” when certain things happen, including death that could have been avoided. I find it funny how one with 9 lives tend to live shorter than a cat with one. I always find the faint copy of a leader interesting but a little creepy. Like, I’d be so confused to visit the afterlife in a dream or some astral projection and see a copy of myself just staring at me and demand someone there to explain it to me 😂 Bruh StarClan’s logic with Leafpool really went “Hey you’re gonna birth some cats that are gonna help save the clans, but you’re still going to hell for it” 😂😂💀 I wished that the Brightflower and Lilywhisker incident wouldn’t repeat after it was retconned, but then the Frecklewish controversy reopened the wound and it made me convinced that the website was run by pro-Mapleshade fans that didn’t know what context was. Like, imagine being sent to hell for being sad and manipulated by your grandson, feeling miserable over your disability, and not kermit sewerside to save someone when you know you won’t live or be able to save them. That’s already enough for someone to not believe in StarClan had the characters knew this. How many times are these Psuedo-DF cats incidents gonna happen until it stops for good? Btw, I absolutely love your nicknames for Scourge so much 😂👌🏼 I didn’t care about the MothPool ship before, but now I support it when people actually came forward with more detail of why the ship is a thing

Well, I still think it is a lack of faith on the side of Scourge which makes him lose., StarClan isn't some all-powerful force of course, but belief in them gives the Clans one thing (or two ig): hope and assurance. That's why when Firestar comes back, he is able to defeat Scourge- he literally has nine lives to spare and with him believing that the StarClan cats who he loved and who gave him those lives fighting the last fight alongside him (as they would in real time many seasons later) he knows he can take down Scourge. You do have a point about the more logical side of Scourge's demise, but I was just saying i think the point the authors were making (at least what it seemed to be) makes sense.

i think the real reason that medicine cats can't have a mate or kits is because they'll have to be away from their job and usually there's only one or two med cats

okay, about the atheist part of the video, I as an atheist (who really really likes religion as a fascinating concept and the cultures that surround different religions) I really really like that the protagonist clan atheists are depicted as being somewhat stubborn, varied in personality, a little bit daft while still being at least somewhat well meaning because it gives us insight on how the authors view atheists and in a way, their own religion. I think that's really cool. I like that we can see the world through the writers eyes even in a fantasy setting where their beliefs are not cannon but rather their imagination. sure, it might not be the best for a story telling perspective but it isn't the worst either =} i also find it funny how the atheists cannot comprehend ghosts coming from the afterlife realm to fight against and amongst their peers like.. that's not something you can test multiple times, it can't be tried as a theory in a lab. that is a one time thing of course it's unbelievable even in front of your own eyes. I doubt most people would accept that as fact even if they are religious, it would be easy to chalk it up to an adrenaline/stress based mass hallucination. not unlike a Ouija board, think of all the stress the clans had gone through before the battle, the build up it must have been exhausting. I deal with among other things stress based hallucinations due to a mixture of genetics and trauma so I know from personal experience that some (some) religious and spiritual people have chalked my *serious medical issues* as a "gift" and reason to practice a faith (don't fucking do this, even if you think you're helping and regardless of if your spiritual beliefs are true there wouldn't be a way to distinguish real ghost shenanigans to a psychosis issue it would hurt your cause as well as the victim of poor mental health) that I just never have believed in. I can relate to mothwing for wanting to look for reasons more realistic to her before potentially giving in to some deep psychological problems especially in her field of medicine.

This will probably get lost in the comments but is there an email I can send art to? I’d love to contribute to your videos! Drawing warriors is incredibly enjoyable for me and you’ll find some very old art on my channel but it’s a lot better now. I can also take free requests! :)

The authors most likely aren't Cristian and the medicine cats can't take a mate or start a family because they wouldn't have enough time to dedicate to both things.
