I just realised I'd never commented on my favourite track / video of all time. This is a goddamned masterpiece. Every time I get a new pair of headphones, stereo equipment etc this is the first track I play. Every time I move house or buy a new car or change job, this is the first tack I play. It has everything. Alt rock, soaring synths, great bass, guitar and drums and some of the most cynical lyrics you'll ever hear sung in half a dozen styles. If you want to know what the early 90s felt like, this is it. At first the subject matter sounds at complete odds with the music, but it's the knowing glance from the band to the switched-on audience that earned these guys lifelong fans. Listening to Easy FM while the world falls apart around you and looking for someone like-minded to get angry about it with you. I scoured a pre-internet world for my eye-wateringly orange Reese's Peanut Butter Cups t-shirt and I still wear it to this day. This is a goddamned masterpiece.

Not this one. The bad green screen and all around (intended) cheap look indicates it was likely shot on tape. And then you have their "Real Thing" era videos where footage of the band was shot on film but the effects (like the text in From Out of Nowhere) was video generated. Making an HD version would be futile unless you painstakingly recreated those effects AND recut the original film elements (assuming they weren't thrown out) to match the final cut that's stored on tape.

This song is simply the greatest FNM music ever recorded. It spotlights all the special, musical talents of each member, and it especially shows what Jim Martin brought to the band that has been missing since his firing in 1993. It is time to bring him back into the fold again and pick up where they left off thirty years ago. Without Martin, that uniqueness that made them special doesn't fully exist. Ironically, the meaning of this song (losing our innate state of gratefulness because our egos blind our true worth and blur our ability to see the simplicity and beauty of life) foreshadowed the band's own upcoming fate.
@generaIsod4 ай бұрын
Jim didn't even like the album this single came from, which is why he quit the band. He looks like he's having a ball in this video however. I think his leaving was to do with Patton flexing his vocal muscles and talent more and more.
