That is a very subjective statement. Dont get me wrong, if i’m in a certain mood i might agree with you, but so much good rock and metal still get released. I dont know if it’s your kind of music, but maybe check out Mastodon. They are simularly deep and experimental but more pure metal instead of this kind of blend of rock, metal and alternative that Faith No More is.

Another very deep and sad FNM song, about losing your innocence after being a child. As you get older the Kingdom you believed in starts to crumble and life turns tragic and ugly. A truly beautiful song

Now I listen to 'Land of Sunshine', 'Midlife Crisis', 'RV', 'Everything's Ruined', 'Kindergarten', 'Be Aggressive', and 'Crack Hitler' all the time. Angel Dust is, to me, the best FNM album (and I really like Album Of The Year and The Real Thing as well).

Angel Dust, an l.p. record by Faith No More... released 26 years ago. A sonical masterpiece tome of cinematic slices of americana; like a seminal desert island movie box-set collection.... all by the same director. Most of the lyrics were written by a 24 yr old Mike Patton; his lyrical genius widely ignored by the music critics who preferred to focus instead on his (obvious) vocal virtuosity. Critics cite Cage, Dylan, Lennon et al as the pinnacle of their profession... I'd suggest they all listen to this album... and I mean 'listen', because Patton nonchalantly employed his own unrealised genius to 'characterize' different songs (and his lyrics) with a cameleonesque vocal style which quite literally evoked different cinematic scenes with different stylistics; inventing various persona to suit each particular track. For the uninitiated; Go to youtube... do the appropriate search and close your eyes and listen to; 'R.V' where he 'creates' an overweight white trash 'Trumpesque' protagonist to enhance the visuals the songs subject matter... or... Jizzlobber, where he creates a terrifying 'Leatherface/Dahmer' hybrid character for that songs theme of a sentenced killer; the ending of the song perfectly dissolving into a white noise of hellish cacophonic slabs of melody... "I am what I've done... I'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry..." This song below, however, is one of my personal favourites: a straight 'Pattonesque harmonies™' example of his savage subtlety... a mobius strip admonition of the rot of entitlement... So, happy 26th birthday 'Angel Dust'... you were a landmark in my own musical education... and still ahead of your time. This is: Kindergarten - Faith No More Return to my own vomit like a dog Rhymes and giggles muffle the dialogue Carve my initials in a tree, I will never leave Maybe one day I'll be royalty Kingdom Kindergarten Born late Will I graduate? Drinking fountains are shorter than they used to The swings on the playground don't even fit me anymore Folklore... nobody's supposed to believe in the next grade Write it a hundred times Kingdom Kindergarten Waiting Bell's not ringing Held back again Everything got quiet suddenly no Dolby And the theater is empty Film is flapping on the side of the projector The reel is over Banished with my sticky shoes and stinging eyes I'm walking outside... Kingdom Kindergarten Born late Will I graduate? Held back again Songwriters: Bill Gould / James Blanco Martin / Michael Allen Patton / Michael Andrew Bordin / Roddy Christopher Bottum Kindergarten lyrics © Universal Music Publishing Group

Brian Loher favorite era for me, personally, 1990’s and early 2000’s. Mid 2000’s music started to decline... no great bands nor ppl pushing their creativity, like musicians got lazy as technology evolved. FNM, also Alice In Chains, Pearl a jam, and a list of other bands creating authentic epic music for the masses!! I could go on. I also believe one doesn’t have to be into rap to acknowledge and embrace the epic and lovely rage and range in their music. That is what makes them so great. Mike’s voice is like a musical chameleon and is the epitome of raw, genius, authentic talent. 😍
