I still remember a chance encounter with this song on late night college radio in early 1987. At the time, this style mashup sounded like nothing I had ever heard before and totally blew my mind. RIP vocalist Chuck Mosley.

It's not Mike Patton, it's FNM's previous singer, the late Chuck Moseley. How did you not see (or hear) that???? This is '87, a remake of the original of '85. Patton joined FNM in 1989. Decent review however.

So glad to see you get these back up Dave. This reaction was a fave of mine. To see you get excited finding a song you'd been searching for so long was better than the song itself.

Dude this song has been played everywhere! lol It was even the theme song for the show Dirty Jobs. Oh, and Mike Patton wasn't in the band yet. Chuck Moseley was their singer on the first two albums. The Real Thing was MP's first album with FNM. They were definitely more punk/funk with Chuck and became more experimental with MP.

One of the most infectious earworms of a bassline ever! This is the original video with original singer Chuck Mosley, but there are 2 versions with Mike Patton officially released as well IIRC....

The show Dirty Jobs used this as its theme song and that is likely how a lot of younger people (well those likely in their 20s-30s now) heard this song for the first time. I've had a lot of songs I couldn't figure out over the years in the back of my mind where I finally find out the name and artist it blows my mind every time!

Dirty Jobs was where I first heard Faith No More as a kid. This was a great choice of theme song. And yeah, that bass riff is killer. Chuck Mosley didn't have the vocal chops that Mike Patton, who replaced him on the mic, has. But he was a killer frontman. He did a version of this with his new group VUA about 10 years ago with heavier guitar and updated lyrics. It's pretty damn good. RIP Chuck.

Yeah, this is a fun and humorous song. That main bass riff is so memorable- I guess because like you said, it’s so catchy. And of course I know you don’t go in for lyrics. But if you read the lines for this song they’re pretty funny. Obviously meant to be silly and goofy, and they work. I’ve always loved the line “We care a lot/About Transformers ‘cause there’s more than meets the eye.” I loved those toys as a kid. Just to relate to your song search: I had a similar one with a tune by Concrete Blonde. (You reacted to their song “Bloodletting”.) I could always sort of half-remember it, particularly the chorus which sounded amazing in my memory. Then one night I found it. And it was actually on Halloween night. I had a huge circle of friends then, and we were all getting ready to go out in costume. Well, mine was cheap-o so I didn’t need to prep. But while everyone else was, I combed thru the CD collection at that apartment. I found albums by Concrete Blonde, and thought I saw a title I recognized. I thought, is that it? I had to know. So I put it on the stereo, and yes, it was the song, with the powerful chorus I remembered. Its title is “Heal It Up”. And I played it over and over again that night.

Hi David! Here as Promised.👀Still not a fan but...👍Congrats on finding that baseline .So Happy for you 😁. You are correct. It was used in the show Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. Great funny show. I did not know it was from this song. 8.2 OK I will give you this one because you had spent decades trying to find it. This is my final Faith No More song. I have kept the promise I made to you when your acct was hacked and all your FNM song were gone and my Nightwish Army heart was angry on your behalf. As I said then I am a huge fan of yours but not a fan of FNM. Just know I watched and listened to every one. The on only one we agreed on was "EPIC" live. See you again soon I hope.

I feel like you would enjoy watching Mistaken for Strangers movie/documentary. About 2 brothers from Ohio older brother is in an Indie rock band and the younger is a metal head. Older brother invites his brother on tour as a roadie and it’s it doesn’t end well. Younger brother kinda loses his way and searching for his purpose living in his brothers shadow. He makes this doc from his experience. One of my all time fave movies.
