Glad you enjoyed Abingdon, when I was a student I lived in Abingdon for 3 years. I always enjoy going back whether by road or by boat. If you visit in October you will be able to visit the longest street fair in Europe which virtually closes the main street through Abingdon. Enjoy the rest of your trip to Lechlade the river is stunning.

Did you injure it on the "toe" path?... (you must have been expecting that one sooner or later,,,). "Lame" puns aside, take care as an injury that affects your gait can create a whole domino effect of other complaints from your feet and knees.

Another great adventure we are now at the point in our life where we need a change we have had a motorhome for the last five years, but the roads are just getting worse so we are contemplating a slow life on the canals. I presume you can highly recommend this. Take care guys just one other thing narrow boat or wide beam your opinion would be much appreciated

A life on the canals isn't for everyone but we absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone. A widebeam would restrict your movements, you'll have to be either north or south. It would literally give you twice the space but half the travelling. A 57' narrowboat allows you to go nearly anywhere... hope this helps
