I'm possibly one of the biggest Clark Sisters fans, especially of Twinkie Clark, so I feel I need to uphold their legacy😂. The way he held his note on the word "Me" and the way Karen held her note on "Me" were two different approaches and executions, but to the untrained ear, you would think they were the same. However, Karen's is more impressive because she held her note continuously without taking a breath, while Tim Bowen held his note while he was actively breathing. To those like myself who are trained, we recognize his approach and execution of the note on "me" as "circular breathing." Although it's not easy to do without being noticed, it is possible, and that's what he did. It doesn't take anything away from him, but I would have been more impressed if he had approached and executed it like Karen did. For those who are not trained, yes, it is possible to hold a note for an extended period and make it appear as if it's a single, continuous note without taking a visible breath. This technique is often referred to as "circular breathing." Circular breathing allows a singer or musician to sustain a note or tone continuously beyond the usual capacity of the human lung by inhaling through the nose while simultaneously pushing air out of the mouth using air stored in the cheeks. I promise you, because the Clark Sisters are trained, they immediately recognized this technique and probably read many of your comments saying that he did not take a breath, which he did. I'm possibly one of the biggest Clark Sisters fans, especially of Twinkie Clark, so I feel I need to uphold their legacy😂. The way he held his note on the word "Me" and the way Karen held her note on "Me" were two different approaches and executions, but to the untrained ear, you would think they were the same. However, Karen's is more impressive because she held her note continuously without taking a breath, while Tim Bowen held his note while he was actively breathing. To those like myself who are trained, we recognize his approach and execution of the note on "me" as "circular breathing." Although it's not easy to do without being noticed, it is possible, and that's what he did. It doesn't take anything away from him, but I would have been more impressed if he had approached and executed it like Karen did. For those who are not trained, yes, it is possible to hold a note for an extended period and make it appear as if it's a single, continuous note without taking a visible breath. This technique is often referred to as "circular breathing." Circular breathing allows a singer or musician to sustain a note or tone continuously beyond the usual capacity of the human lung by inhaling through the nose while simultaneously pushing air out of the mouth using air stored in the cheeks. I promise you, because the Clark Sisters are trained, they immediately recognized this technique and probably read many of your comments saying that he did not take a breath, which he did. So Karen Clark Sheard still remains the queen, and no one to date has broken her record while singing this same song "Jesus is a Love Song." SN: This technique circular breathing is more commonly used by wind and brass instrument players, such as saxophonists or didgeridoo players. A famous example in the realm of instrumental music is Kenny G, who set a Guinness World Record by holding an E-flat on a saxophone for 45 minutes and 47 seconds using circular breathing. While less common in vocal performances due to the complexity and the need for relaxation and vocal rest, some skilled singers can apply a form of this technique or use rapid, barely noticeable shallow breaths to create the illusion of a long, sustained note. ***Written In Respect***
