Jesus called us Friend. I think the friend Cory refers to is Jesus, who took and continues to take our wounds. We are prisoners of this Hope even when our heart is slain, because in the end we know we will have the victory - we win, because He won for us. So we embrace the waves, caves and dealings of His Hand. This song is all about Jesus - & our wrestling, yet hope, trust & the refined gold of our friendship with Him.

I was a little lost the meaning of this song the first times I heard it, so here is my insight to help - if I can: Faithful are the wounds of a friend is written in proverbs 27.6 - it means that a friend that hurts you out of love does it with a purpose He also says in the song "faithful Lord are the dealings ( doings/choices) of your hands" This song says that even though we feel lost, in trials, lost and hurting, we can, if we stop looking at our own pain and look at our Father, remember that everything He does has a purpose and He only wants us to grow So that's what I understood

I am moved by this song of truth beyond words. "Faithful are the wounds of a friend." It's in the book of Proverbs. All the glory be to God and his Son our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen ❤

This song makes me think so much on the proverbs passage: "Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." (Proverbs 27:6, NKJV) - Now put that into the context of Judas who kissed, but was an enem and Jesus who let's himself be wounded and calls Judas "Friend".

I think that's the meaning, we are wounded by this life and the Lord uses those wounds to change us. The potter and the clay. He works it for our good. He brings us out and through the suffering and when we trust Him after we come to get to know Him we know His love is perfect for us.

But we are supposed to walk in the Spirit, and love causes no harm. I'm sorry you and myself and others have been hurt. Jesus can redeem all that.

It's my understanding that the friend is Jesus (God), He sticks closer than a brother. The wounds are correction and from sin and the wounds cause us to cry out to God and work repentance. And that is what changed me. I love Cory's music inspired by his intimacy with Father God and Jesus and Holy Spirit. Cory's music takes me into my spirit with God.

Well... I think God gave Cory the words to this song for me 😔 Since April 13. 2017 I've felt like I was sucked up by a vortex, spinning in a whirlwind and I can't make it stop. The thing that keeps me pushing forward is God's faithfulness. He hasn't left me... I haven't been abandoned by Him.
