RIP Maxi Jazz. I was lucky enough to see Faithless perform live in Ibiza many years ago and the group are responsible for so many great dance music classics, but 'Insomnia' is something really really special that will always get my hairs on the back of my neck rising when the iconic pizzicato hits. His smooth, low tones fit perfectly and the fact that millions of people throughout the world now can recite lines involving 'one dry potato' and 'tearing off tights with my teeth' show how huge his influence was.

This voice, which I didn’t appreciate till almost too late, has such a hypnotic effect on me, and the lyrics are quirky yet hit just as hard as nails being pounded in my head. I was probably only 6 or so when this song came out but even as a child I knew how this song had a big impact in the music industry. My mom would jam to it often. Hard to believe it came out what? In 1999? This song was waaaayy ahead of its time. That’s how good it is. Still loved by so many till this die. After all these years there hasn’t been another like it.

Beat song, but still get chills when I got the local club DJ to play extended version of God is a DJ. Brought my CD😅 Didn't see a more excited crowd for a long time. Late 90s, smoke, lasers, everyone having a good time. Then it all got worse, in every possible way, here in Scandinavia at least.
