Jay was hustlin all the way till he dropped Reasonable Doubt in 96. He was quiet, wasn't flashy, and stayed out of trouble. He was smart. People around him had to convince him to get into rap because he was making more money hustlin. I can't remember exactly which song/verse it was but Jay himself said, some where along the lines off.. "I had $900,000 before rap.." No Dame was NOT the mastermind. He was just the loudest with an attitude. There's a difference. Did he initially get things done? Yes. Did it eventually wear out everyone else around him? Yes. No one wanted to do business with Dame and Jay knew that, so he bounced. Did the right thing.

To be a drug dealing hustler you don't necessarily have to be Mean,Aggressive or violent.
