Until that changes, the demand for those stories (in songs, movies, video games, etc) won't change. Selling drugs isn't even immoral in the grand scheme of things. I'm sick of Jay always relating his business moves to drug dealing. When is the last time Jay touched a brick, if he ever touched one? 30 years ago? Why is he always doing that shit? Talk about how you're making business moves today, without relating it to drugs. Something tells me he's being told to do this, the same way Cardi B is obviously being told what only type of music she is ALLOWED to make. None of what Jay said in that verse had anything to do with real life. His line about Ye & Rih really has nothing to do with him.
@spenser63532 жыл бұрын
Did you listen to the 444 album? He was talking about building up the community and people said he was being a hypocrite. So when he doesnt talk about selling drugs its also a problem. People just hate on the man for no reason

Finally someone who actually listens. Jay is in his 50s and continues to use metaphors and analogies related to drug dealing. He and other gangster rappers glamorize that destructive lifestyle and influence impressionable youth to chase that trap. Maybe he’ll give up the coke raps in his 60s 🤣

The drug game is old news unless you're selling pounds or metric tons with government help on some Snowfall tv show type shid. The real game is actually in pharmaceutical drugs and or selling guns to fund wars (ever seen Lord of War movie with Nicholas Cage? The government hires people to do shid like that) If you ain't on that level then you're wasting your time with street level drugs.

I just heard the song God did. I get it. I really don't understand what's the problem. I get the whole thing about not glorifying the selling of drugs. I don't hear in Jay Z's verse where he is glorifying the selling of drugs. I do understand that the song is about those who didn't believe in these rappers in this song. They maybe didn't believe in them but they made it through whatever because God did(lol). It just don't seem that serious to talk about Jay Z's lyrics. Go out and save the babies instead of worrying about what another man raps about. Crazy! Peace to Man Woman and Child.

Listen to it again. “I left the dope game with my record clean. I turned the cocaína into champagne. I cleaned up la madrina with the same soap. Me and Loro talk 'bout how we slang dope.” I like gangster rap and mob movies too, but I can enjoy it purely as entertainment, but a lot of misguided youth take this stuff as truth and try to live that life.
