No, no, hell no. The fans will hate it because he was the Packers coach and you can't even say he was a winner with the Cowboys. Lose/lose.
@Emmanuel-b5qКүн бұрын
Wait. Didn't the Cowboys have like a few 1213 year seasons, and we're like top 5 in offense and defense. They'll get me wrong. He's pretty bad in the playoffs, but the bears don't even know what the playoffs is and if you're just seeing it because he was a packers coach, this is kind of ridiculous dak prescott had his best years and got paid because of mike mccarthy with his m v p seasons
@jeremeyunger6568Күн бұрын
@Emmanuel-b5q Yes. The Cowboys had some high win totals a few times and bombed in the playoffs. He also had a massive payroll and a lot of talent and did nothing. So, ex-Packees coach AND no playoff success in Dallas...not a good choice.
@markballou8621Күн бұрын
That’s a great reason why the Bears shouldn’t hire him. That way of thinking is why we are perennial losers.

61% winning record, 11-11 in playoffs and had 3 straight 12 win seasons before having a year where the cowboys were PLAGUED with injuries. I hated seeing his name instantly then did some research and realized we have always tried to get cute and it never works. Trestman, Nagy, eberflus. I’m still on the Ben Johnson train but if he’s gone I’d rather have the established HC than the OC that looks good coaching Josh Allen and definitely over any of the DC, available. In terms of Coen, we haven’t even added him to the list of 600 names so I won’t even talk about him even tho I do like him

McCarthy’s winning regular season records were courtesy of coaching in bad divisions, and NFC North is obviously not weak anymore. Looking at what he’s done in the playoffs with an all-time great QB, one can’t deny his Packers underachieved year after year. He got out-coached by Jim Harbaugh and made Kaepernick look like MVP Lamar in back to back playoffs. His Packers choked away a 19-7 lead against the Seahawks with 4 minutes left. He had no answers against Kurt Warner, Eli Manning, and Matt Ryan. The list goes on and on. Lastly the Packers gotten better after he left told me all I needed to know of how important he was to that team’s success, which isn’t very much if at all. Bottom line is if he managed only one SB appearance with ARod, what kind of success he will have with Caleb? To me McCarthy’s probably one of the most overrated coaches of all time.
@fixindan359220 сағат бұрын
Now having said that McCarthy wouldn’t be the worst coaching hire. He won’t lose games due to questionable in-game decisions like Eberflus, but don’t expect him to out-coach somebody like McVay and lead an inferior team to a victory against a superior team in the playoffs.
@jamesphillips488819 сағат бұрын

@KillinDaVillin16 сағат бұрын
@@fixindan3592 I agree McCarthy isn’t perfect but who would out coach McVay and the harbaughs right now that’s available ? Nobody. That’s what sucks for the bears is we didn’t even offer to interview Jim last year and he goes and takes a sorry ass chargers team to the playoffs. Only reason I pointed out the McCarthy thing is I feel like people think he’s some bum. Don’t disagree with your points more so, just curious who would be a safer pick than all these coordinators who haven’t head coached before. (Minus Brian Flores I’m just personally not interested in him whatsoever)

Your right D B, about all the freaking out about rumors etc. Fans don't realize that all perspective clients like Johnson, Brady etc. etc. Have managers of there own who try to spread rumors about other teams to increase the popularity of there clients and cause a bidding war to up there money percentage. A good example of that would be all the hype of Johnson to the Raiders. Why would anyone think that Ben Johnson is going to drag His family to LV to play on a team that only has a couple of good players and no QB ??

Please, how is the Raiders job more appealing, because of Brady? News flash! Brady is a shareholder, nothing more. Raiders have no QB, WR, or RB, and their OL is ranked lower than CHI's.
@Welp..18 сағат бұрын
@amoose8414 Brady has been put in charge of the coaching search, apparently you haven't heard that. Tom has a ton of respect and him getting a head start to talk to guys and finding out what they want and then offering it to them like his own GM could be appealing to Ben. Let's not act like this 5 win bears team is all of a sudden great.
@amoose841417 сағат бұрын
@Welp.. No, I haven't heard about Brady leading the search. Although he has respect without having a position that can actually hire or fire people, there is only so much he can do. Furthermore, handing that kind of power to a first-time HC is extremely risky. The kind of power you're talking about is the kind of power Harbaugh or Belichick would get, not a first-time HC. Finally, let's not act like the Bear's job is the worst available either.

You can’t hire Ben Johnson until Detroit is eliminated and if they go to the Super Bowl that is still 3 and a half weeks out. I’m in complete agreement with you regarding McCarthy. He managed only one SB appearance with ARod. I understand TB12 dominated that era, but McCarthy couldn’t even win the NFC and got punked by Wilson, Kaepernick (twice), Palmer, and Ryan. When you’ve got an all time great QB in his prime and you lost to these dudes in the playoffs, that’s underachievement no matter how you look at it. If he can only manage that with ARod, I don’t know how much success he will have with Caleb.

Just to play devil's advocate: He's got a long history of winning He's made a bad Dallas team look pretty good for many years, and a better winning % than Jimmy Johnson. He's less likely to be phased by the ineptitude of the Bears Front office. He's a proven asset while all of the OCs and DCs are not. We don't know how they will handle the HC job, or if they even can. I dunno, we could do a LOT worse.

A lot of the Ben Johnson fanboys were Justin Fields fanboys as well. They're all about the flash, but not about proven results. Ben Johnson has never been a HC and is in a perfect situation in Detroit with his talent on offense, from the OLine to the QB and everyone in between. Youngins will not like the McCarthy choice, they'd rather roll with a first time HC, first time OC, and first time DC. McCarthy is 174-112, 60.8% win, regular season as a HC! Bears need a proven HC to begin to change the culture and deal with a knucklehead owner, president and GM.
