These so called 7HT Pinion supports for Daiwa 7HT reels sold on the bay of evil & thieves (ebay) does not work and in some cases can damage the reel.

Cheers for bringing this to our attention Jamie. Very informative as usual. There are so many rogues on that bay of evil & thieves, it can be like walking through a minefield. 🙄

The reel you just bought is exactly the same spec as when first made back in 2007 I think, I found a review by Casting Legend Neil Mackellow from 2008 on the Daiwa 7HT Mag, it's on Planet Sea Fishing. But if you think about it, ALL Daiwa 7HT reels have needed the pinion support to stop drive shaft wobble. This goes back to the mid 1970s and the original Classic Black and gold Daiwa 7HT. On your reel, I would also change the main gear for a ManFish Stainless Steel version. This is because the Daiwa 7HT Mag has a brass main gear running on a stainless steel pinion gear so when under any pressure the stainless steel gear being of much harder metal eats the bass main gear, and eventually it will fail because the teeth are worn through.
