The 1st Gen NCO Swords started off Copper Handles then Japan realized “hey we need the copper for the bullets” then switched to aluminum in the Gen.2 because it was a cost effective alternative but mainly because Aluminum didn’t corrode as easy as Copper in the South Pacific

Thought I'd make a comment prior to watching this... My uncle just passed down to me a "world war 2 Japanese NCO sword.." He has had this for over 50 years, it was passed to him from a WWII American soldier (although my uncle shared with me the specifics on how this sword was obtained, out of respect I'll not disclose that here). I have no reason to believe this sword to be fake, however, this shall be an interesting video to confirm what I already know to be real. Okay let's see what this gentleman has to share!

i liked your video. i recently purchased a type 95 nco sword. i have had people look at it and they are sure it is the real deal. my question is, it looks like it has been repainted. if it has what can i do about that?

I would just leave it alone. The damage it's done. Trying to removed the paint, will probably cause the other paint to come off

It should be added that there exists no real copper handle type 95 with two screw mekugi type mounting methods. Any copper handle with two screws is a fake. They only have a mounting screw in the kashira section.

Sorry, but I seen copper handle with two screws. The reason why the Japanese put two screws is , because The sword was loose and copper was very soft. Some of the late copper handles have two screws

This is a Shin-Gunto it is a Fake sword in that it is not a traditional Nihonto. probably was made in a factory, as the stamps indicate. They are worthless to collectors but still a cool story.

In 5:49 "no symbols on blade on this type of sword, only general parade swords but extremely rare" Ok so u mean that this sword in 5:49 is real NCO sword (Use for parade purpose only) but extremely rare to find right?

No the sword is copy from a very rare general sword, that quality of this one is really bad. The general swords have turtle shell by the grip and very beautiful made. I only seen it on a book lol Thank you so much for watching, please subscribe and like
