fake memorabilia also shows us that all this stuff is worthless even if real, Until that "expert" told the people their stuff was fake , to them it had value, it all has no value , only what your imagination gives it,

The problem with a lot of these tv-advertised kitchen appliances is that it's possible that the same Chinese factories might produce two versions of the product...a "good" one to be sold by the trademark holder and a less-able unit to be sold in cheapy stores. The plastic mouldings and parts are a bit of a give-away. At a very reputable department store here in Australia I was shopping for a new Microwave oven. I settled on a 900w convection unit with a known brand over here. Then I spied, on the other side of the aisle, a similar specification oven which only had minor cosmetic differences but looked almost identical to the pricier "brand" unit. So, on looking at the casing, the glass platter and the touch controls it was evident the two units had come from the same supplier only the department store generic brand unit was almost $40 cheaper. Upon enquiring with the department store head office I was told I was correct...both units came from the same supplier. So it's not always true that you are being tricked when buying something similar.
@matthewyabsley
@matthewyabsley 5 жыл бұрын
That’s actually true. Usually it starts the other way round though, many big names don’t actually make the equipment that you are buying at all, take Phillips for example. It’s just a brand. The supplier often pitches their product to the brand, either as a supplier or to use their brand name on a licensing arrangement. The brand will then look at the product and suggest changes, increase in quality etc to pass their own criteria. The cheaper store brand one often is the original product. The brand one being the revised edition.

18:04 Just because an item has Safety Certification marks doesn't mean it's a genuine item. The Safety Certification marks can be faked too, can't they? The only guaranteed way to buy a genuine item is to buy it directly from the manufacturer. For example, if you want a genuine Samsung, buy it from Samsung (or from its known trusted partners). If you want a genuine iPhone, buy it from Apple (or from its known trusted partners). Yes, it usually is more expensive to buy from the manufacturer, but it also comes with guarantees you won't find on the High Street.

I know this comment is a year old but I will still reply. Signed memorabilia is not always equipment directly used by the the signer. People often bring their own equipment to be signed to events where sports stars are. They will bring a new boxing glove or ball for instance, go to a signing, get it signed. Seeing how Ali died in 2016 there were plenty of opportunities for more modern equipment to be signed this way, not sure why this possible scenario was not obvious to you.

@@benji219 What is obvious is your attempt to hold face for a comment that is really direct and to the point and has no semblance of being a "joke" unless your idea of humor is to base your punch line on a setup that makes no sense to start with and ends with saying someone deserves something based on your no sense setup. Then you mention buying signatures is stupid unless you have authentication which is a true statement imo as well but has nothing to so with your original comment, oh sorry "joke".

If anyone is a collector of autographs I recommend finding the name and address of their agent and sending a letter asking for an autograph. Alternatively, if you like a band, write a letter to where they are playing. You would be surprised how often you will get a reply. Certain Rolling Stones members are extremely kind, David Bowie was too. I wrote Bowie a letter when he was in 'Tin Machine' to a venue they were playing and he sent me a nice note and included 2 guitar picks with 'Reeves Gabrels' embossed on them. I really like meeting people and getting their autographs. It means a lot more than buying. It may be more difficult, but that's the point. Autographs are difficult to verify. A lot comes to common sense and basic research. Sean Connery, for example, doesn't sign James Bond photos. Most musicians won't sign guitars either. I personally would NEVER buy an autograph.

When those people convicted of scamming people out of money can't pay it back, a sentenced should be based on a multiple year per their yearly salary. If they scam a couple hundred thousand and only get 5 years or so then it's just like they worked 5 years for a substantial amount of money. It really doesn't deter them from doing it. If its money they'd never make otherwise people are going to always do it

I bought what I believed to be a genuine designer bag years ago. After much research I realised I'd bought a fake; yep, I'm an idiot. I sold it on with the clear proviso of how it'd been sold to me and that although it looked good, I couldn't verify its authenticity. I hope all of the poor buggers scammed on here have done the same; and maybe recouped a few quid. A lot of folk are happy to display/use something that 'might' be genuine. There are no winners here, other than the original scammers who get suspended sentences and tiny fines that don't equate to their scams. Fines they can negotiate to pay in pennies per week and can happily default on these too. 😕

In Britain, if you are a crminal, you'll be a gainer anyway and if you are a victim, you'll never be fully compensated. The court fined the criminal only £2500 and the victim had no chance to recover her lose

Hi, I'm from the future where we're in the midst of a pandemic. Turns out a huge number of small businesses basically survive month to month and don't have much excess cash on hand. Anyway, I'm off for a go in my flying car.

The system could never be fair if this was just some little street gang commiting these crimes they would spend the entire sentence in prison. He is a criminal and a thief he shouldn't be getting away with it.

I don't think signaturs thar are sold can be memorabilities, cause customers won't have any memory of actually taking the signature. There should be some other words to name it. And I don't think that the real signatures would be sild just through the internet or stores. In some special communities (dedicated to celebs) or auctions - yes.

The problem with the sports memorabilia market is that there are millions of fans and only a finite amount of genuine items and an even smaller amount of from the big names that is verifiable and authenticated so demand far outstrips supply and leaves a massive opening for the criminally minded and the mass of less savvy buyers make easy targets.

That's why it's best to stick with cards from licensed companies. The autographs will always be verified & have value in the market. There are tons of players signatures that vastly outperform the stock market, so it can be a good investment if you know what you're doing.

What is the prison sentence for illegally making a £1000000? If a mother can be sent to prison for three months for not paying an £80 tv licence. Robbing people of a million pound which is over 10000 times £80, that has to be worth at least 2.5 thousand years in prison!
