Hey i had a question, instead of doing it here can it be done inside c4d itself? Like lets say i add the 2d text in c4d and add the elements there and render out the whole transparent scene and bring it in AE will it work? Im actually new to 3d stuff so trying to simplify things as this depth map thing is a lil complicated for me

Yes it works, but then you won’t be able to change the text in AE. The only reason to use this technique is to be able to add text and design elements in After Effects.

Is it possible to achieve this "glass dispersion" texture on the torus using the standard material editor and the physical render?

You mean inside Cinema 4D? Yes, I think so. I did not use the physical renderer for a while, but I guess it should have dispersion built in.
