Been using them for over 20 years on my cars/trucks shit,even had KnN on my carburated 84 mustang 5.0 stickshift w/old-school crock pot looking intakes,circled filter!!!upped me 11hp!!!+increased my fuel economy👍I stand by thier product!30-50k use cleaner and let it dry for a day or 2,and spray lightly w/filter oil before putting it back on don't overdo It!!!also spray ur MAF sensor w/ MAF cleaner spray as well cuz the oils from filter can throw off readings after said amount of time I mentioned above 👍🇺🇲

i have a 2004 audi a6 2.7t that i tune and see different results on. i can tell you from testing...spectre SUCKS FUCKING BALLS!! they are the "budget" option of k&n and the material barely lets any air through!! yes, a wee bit more than a paper filter but NOTHING like a k&n...it simply sucks balls. dont waste your money. save up for k&n . the power kicks in around over 3500 rpm and it's awesome. ONLY k&n nothing else matters

RT ^^^ Agree 100% tried Spectre for a total of couple hrs before ripping the thing out. Dont waste your money on it as it only works at very slow accelerations and if you push on the pedal it flows worse then a stock airbox choking the motor at Full throttle, better off using stock box and dropping K&n filter or saving up n buying full CAI n heat wrapping pipping.

K&N owns Spectre , so basically it’s the same brand with a different name. So when you say you’re getting a K&N than a Spectre . You’re saying “ I’m getting a K&N than a K&N ( Spectre ) 🤷🏻‍♂️

I purchased a fake one to supplement my original. So when I wash my filter and need to run to the store or somewhere quick, I will have some sort of backup .Also when drying the filter overnight I can pop this on to keep out rodents etc. Not smart to use daily but its just enough

Yeah u both right but when u do have to clean and respray oil do it lightly if u do too much,it'll also throw off ur MAF sensor which can decrease fuel efficiency and overall performance

Just got a fake K&N drop in filter from Ali today. Hence why I found this video. It looks just right, but upon closer inspection the filter material is NOT woven fibres like the original, but rather just a paper filter material died red to look like it’s oiled woven fabric. This fake filter obviously filters better, but is a lot more restrictive, and even more restrictive than the original filter which has the same sort of material, but many more slats and therefore effectively bigger surface area than the fake K&N.

K&N Sells "Dry" and "Oil" type filters. But they do not cross list on their website, nor provide any special codes (that I can find or figure out) that lets buyers/users know WHICH they have, oiled or dry. Makes it very frustrating to buy K&N, makes it MUCH less worth the premium price. The fact that there are so many knock-offs dissuades even further.

the real ones are at oreillys and autozone. k&n has their shelves at those stores. the ones that are on spectre side are the cheap knockoffs. dont get those.

New they should look pinkish red, but after it's been oiled, it darkens up and looks red. Yours probably came oiled. Order from k and n website and you won't have to second guess

the fake ones use cheap synthetic paper mesh. K&N is 100% cotton gauze.

usually if not pre oiled the legit filter pleats looks pale. and fake ones looks oiled already even if it is not.

The most important aspect of a "FILTER" is air flow/ high rpm performance. LOL

Actually the most important aspect of a filter is how much its actually filtering. Oem filters are designed to keep the crap out of your engine. If its not restricting any air flow at all, how well can it actually be filtering. K&n is a performancr filter so its not filtering as well as an oem filter allowing more trash to get into your engine. They filter around 92% instead of the 99% required by manufacturer. They are for race engines that get rebuilt often, not daily driven cars that need the crap kept out of the engine. I have used them before. I didnt have any problems with it. This is just some new information i came across. It was also sited in a forum from 2008. Hopefully they have improved sincr then, especially for the price the charge

sounds like video is made in Philippines not U.S. so fake K&N filter is possible there is more to factors to think about over material size and space can cause performance issues should have use the same K&N filter to filter the other model of K&N filter looks bigger so better results

they;re both fakes. I dont buy this thing that you can use the same filter for 60,000-80,000 miles and not change them. Why can you use them this long? That's not a benefit, that's a weakness - it means it's filtering out jack shit, it's letting everything into the enging, thats why it never get clogged.
