Fake or Real? How to Spot Fake Rhodochrosite?

B. When it comes to rhodochrosite (one of my top favourites) I always go for more pink, no black spots at all. Some people prefer the white banding to get the actual look of rhodochrosite. I prefer mine to be all pink similar to raw pork (some even call rhodochrosite bacon because of the white band:

selenite is gypsum spar, and will never be durable. its like a 2 (on moh's scale) where diamond is 10, sapphire/ruby are 9, quartz 7, and talc a 1. It will not hold up, and is not recommended for jewelry. You can even scratch it with your finger nail.
