I noticed another difference on the front of both boxes, and it's on the bottom left where it lists the mL size. On the real, original box, there's an e right next to the mL size number. On the fake, there's no e.

Finally another channel comparing Real vs Fake. There was only 1 channel doing that up till now. I am particularly interested in the bottles differences because most of the time when I buy from people, there's no box coming with it. By the way, I want to add 2 things. Regarding the PDM fakes, if you look the line where the bottle was glued, on the fake the line tends to stay in the middle. On the other hand, the original, the line goes to the corners. Secondly, when you get fragrances bottles with transparent glasses, the fake ones tend to be not very symmetrical inside, whereas the originals have a more symmetrical shape inside (where the juice is).

Complicating matters even further, PDM bottle manufacturing has been changing ever so slightly over the years. The biggest changes occured between the six digit batch codes to the newer seven digit batch codes. Font sizes and raised lettering changed, sticker information and layout also changed. The manufacturing seam also changed (straight to diagonal), so some of the items discussed here may just be noting genuine PDM changes...

Thank you for writing this.. I was about mention all of these aspects between the gen1 and gen2 bottles. You covered it very well. Also, the caps have changed a bit, mostly on the inside, where the metal rivet is. They seem to be using a different way to attach the plastic insert to the outer metal.

My layton has features from both original and fake. Box seems like fake one, also bottle colour is similar to fake, but the cap is original and scent is original. There are batch difference between those box and colour IMO.

So… I have a bottle of Sedley purchased from Jomashop a couple of years ago that has most of the differences pointed out in the fake Layton in this video. This was a couple of years ago. Jomashop assured me it was authentic, the delina and la rosee I got for the wife in the same order seem proper, and the smell of my Sedley is spot on with Pdm performance. I took my bottle to Nordstrom to authenticate and it seems to be proper. I’m not disagreeing with Ashton’s assertions, only implying that there may be a larger gray area to navigate. There must be some legit packaging changes that have also been copied.

I bought my "Layton" from PDM's website in 2022. It has same box as Ash's "fake" one. (82% Vol). But the bottle is same as Ash's "Original". The inside of a cap is different. Mine has metal thingy on center, like fastening, and weird symbol reversed "2" or "5" idk... Its doesn't smell like "Tuscan Leather". Smells like Layton but its post reformulated "Layton". Sticker on the bottom of my bottle is almost identical to Ash's "fake", but mine has visible dashes "parfums-de-marly".

This comment has me all sorts of conflicted 😂. Half of what you’re describing is what I have with some slight differences. Mine has a metal piece in the cap with a 3 at the base, 82% Vol, but I have the newer style box without the lines, and the sticker was identical to Ash’s original except his had 83% Vol. Also, with mine, the horses eyes don’t pop out as some suggested to be fake. The lettering isn’t as pronounced similar to Ash’s original. I bought it last year for my honeymoon. The scent is amazing but the longevity is horrible (4-5 hours with 5-6 sprays) 🫠.

I have Exactly the same case with yours bro. 2022 batch, box looks exactly like the fake one in this video. However, the bottle Is more in line with the original one. I also have a metal thingy on the center for the cap. Juice lasts 10-12 hours on my skin and days on my clothes. Do you still think we got a fake one?

I bought Herod from a discounter site I trust. The pricing also made sense (about $200) but the design of the box looks like your "fake box". There's some differences though compared to your fake, like how mine box isn't shiny and it looks a bit more refined. The bottle looks real with that rubbed out feeling and also the cap doesnt spin as easy. Just wanted to let you know that "fake design box" is also something I think PDM uses with the QR code, layout on the back, etc.

Hei Ash. The authentic you have is a few years old. The fake you showed is copying a recent batch of Layton most probably, before the ones you find now with no stripes on the box. This is why the font is misplaced at the back. My 2017 batch of Layton has the info at tje back of the box like your authentic but the newer ones I think are changed. Someone who has a 2022 batch can confirm this ? Does the text at the back of the box is the same as on the fake shown here in the video ? I did not check lately but on newer batches does PdM have QR codes ? Can anyone confirm ?

I own a 2024 batch of percival which I bought directly from their website and it also has all the details like the weird non scannable qr code so they really changed the design but I dont own layton so I cant tell u about that

I own a 2022 batch of Layton that has exactly the same details of the fake box outlined by ash in this video. However, the bottle itself is waaayy different and is more in line to the original bottle. From the scent itself though, I do know that it's an authentic Layton, plus it lasts 10-12 hrs on my skin and days on my clothes. So yeah, scary how they can copy the boxes to the T nowadays.

There seems to be a bit of controversy on some fragrance groups lately bout PDM possibly having new caps. I just got a new bottle of althair and everything checks out completely besides underneath the cap. Instead of there being a plastic ring it seems that PDM started filling the entire bottoms of the cap with plastic with the outside still being metal. Some people say that means it’s fake and others say it’s just a new style, would you happen to know?? I’m not the only one with this “new cap” I’ve seen at least 10 other people with the same issue just this week.

My new Layton 200ml (new box presentation) has the QR code, which can't be scanned. Bought it from an official reseller listed on PdM website. The atomizer looks like the fake one, the cap is like the real one. The bottom sticker is the new one like on the Althair bottle

Another point to be aware of, and forgive me if a comment has already been made, but the bit about the QR codes is incorrect in my experience. I have 4 different pdm’s, 3 newer boxes, one older style. Purchased from Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, 100% genuine, and all have the QR code sticker and all of them are unable to be scanned.

You might as well just buy the clones at this point. I've seen even better fakes than that, with authentic batch codes. It was nearly impossible to tell the difference by the packaging and bottle. The only way you can even tell the difference was from the scent itself. If you do buy any PDMs. I would go in-store at a reputable store.

Yes. Awareness on fake perfumes needs to be shared. A year or 2 back, i had a friend who bought a fake ADG profumo online. I immediately felt something was amiss when i picked up the box. Sprayed the juice and confirmed it was fake. It smelt very stale. Profumo had been my daily signature for years, even before i got into perfumes. Had to pull him away from our friends and break the news to him. Bro got cheated.

Also you need to check inside the sprayer on the cap, there should be a small metal tab. Also check the tube height and the grommet. There's a pre and post 2020 type. I have one bottle of Lippazon that the cap spins but everything else is spot on. Going to take it to the PDM boutique for verification. The batch code on the sticker is a little sus. This is discontinued but has a batch code of 2020 and the sticker is not centered on the bottom of the bottle....

another tell tell is the flash line. the fakes have flat lines across the middle of the bottle where the molds close. PdM bottles go from corner to corner to minimize the joining seam.

Its like many of you have stated, pdm changed packaging so older batches have some similarities with the fake one. Cap, atomizer and scent is the best way to tell if it’s fake or not.Also, you can weight in the package before purchasing.

You are wrong in this one, the “original” has the package of the 78% concentration and the next version pdm released of 82% is the “fake” one. The newer version doesn’t trap you with the Vicks smell as the previous one. Do some research

I purchased an Armani Code Colonia at Fragrance X and it doesn't smell like I remember. Very weak and it smells like 80% less strong. The scent is there but it is too weak. I'm going to give it a few days see if it gets better. Not I'll definitely give them a call to return it

Dude I’ve just had two heart attacks in one video, I’ve recently bought a bottle here in the uk for a store called Sanderson’s and paid a lot for a bottle of this. The box looks nothinggggggg like these two there and also has a qr code on the bottom that doesn’t do anything, I thought I was scammed , but every other detail down to the atomiser and spray , colour etc is spot on , obviously when you spend this much on a pdm you want the real deal

I respect clones but I hate fakes. I believe that more than 200 for a smell is just price gouging. 100 is even a reach. Niche, designer, or middle eastern, you can’t put a logo on a smell. Also, this isn’t high school where everyone was spraying AXE all over themselves after gym. If you are wearing any fragrance, most likely, no one will be wearing the same fragrance as you.
