Why in the world would you use the real Time Walk to show the bend test when you could use ANY other real Magic card?

Not a fan of the bend test, a loupe, black light and the feel of the cards is all you need to spot fakes without potentially damaging tests

I think the word you were looking for when you were saying "lighter" and "darker" was "contrast". The fakes had much less contrast due to the fact that it was probably just scanned and printed with a high dpi printer.

Do another comparison, non there are the 7th gen of fakes, and is rally hard to recognize the fake form the Real one,so ù can immagine what Will happen with the 8th,or the 9th gen?

Vintage MTG i m pretty sure that the actual, is the 7th gen of proxy,search for that in sites like aliexpress or wish or some like that(so ù can talk directly with the vendor) the cards have black core,and they passed few test like light,bend and so on...so take a look P.s.sorry for my english, i m from Ita.

So he bought them thinking they were real? Have you done "reviews" of all of the different counterfeits available and how to spot the different ones? I bought myself a jewelers loop as I'm trying to pick up some dual lands to add to my collection. I know a lot of them just don't feel right as well.

I bought an entire beta set as fakes from China specifically for playing cube draft with friends. I wrote proxy on the back with a sharpie incase somebody steals them thinking they're real. that way they can't sell them. who wants people to play with real power and expensive stuff. not me. they can play with fakes. I'll keep my reals for controlled environments. it sucks the guy got ripped off though.

i have a major budget with cards so running these but writing "FAKE" on the image would be better since if i do loose them, they can't be sold and can't be traded to other people, mostly for fun but within reason

fakes are okay if you just want to play the game like seriously not fair that I can't have them in my cube unless I want to waste a down payment for a million dollar house on pieces of card board it's scary that they know to print the white border cards as to seem less suspicious but I don't see why wizards can't print gold bordered cards that would be cheap but wouldn't be allowed an actual tournaments and would be worthless for collecters

Vintage MTG to play casually with your friends in edh or cube but yeah not cool to sell them to someone or use them in a tournament there's only a market for fakes because the supplies doesn't meet the demand all the problems with this kinda stuff always goes back to the reserve list at the time it helped but there has to be a way to reprint the power nine or duel lands with out decreasing the value of the originals

Write the word “mox sapphire” on a basic land if you want a proxy. Fake cards are for cheaters and scammers.

They did do a collectors edition set at one time that had all the P9 and several other cards with gold borders and pointed edges and said they weren't tournament legal, but that was also 1993 and the RL didnt exist at the time. Which leads to my next argument, dissolve the RL, use new art and updated errata in limited runs that are very much spaced out. The original cards will retain their value because they are the originals. Look at Birds of Paradise, it's been reprinted 10 times since Alpha and the original is still a $2000 card and climbing

Ya. Those are fake at a glance. The corners are what give it all away. The only set with those corners are Alpha, and starting with Beta onward its the standard corners we are used too.

Well, these fakes are kinda cool if you want to play with them. I wouldn't want to play with 4k-10k cards. Selling them as real ones on the other hand is aweful ofc.

What Asgard said. I've played in 1994-98 and owned 50+ real duals and beta cards and stuff. Still have a beta Jump for comparison to fakes and once you sleeve the fakes, it is very hard to see any difference and you can now play vintage (not sanctioned but there are no sanctioned stuff of worth in Europe). Fuck those guys that sell fakes as real though, those should be hung drawn and quartered. WotC should reprint all the expensive cards from 1993-1994 with alternative art and sell em as just plain Masters Alternate Art edition or so, for no more than Master boosters.

I agree that those were pretty obvious. I buy older cards a lot and use a loop to check them. I have only ran into 5 fakes, all easier to tell than what you showed here but nothing of large value. Has anyone ran into fakes that were almost impossible to tell? My growing concern is that if they become to difficult to determine then the real cards will start losing value.

Honestly, It's pretty obvious these cards were fake. In my opinion if you have no clue how to spot even terrible fakes like these you shouldn't be investing in vintage magic.

The sad part, is the buyer thought they were real possible...that is the issue, buyers aren't aware of what is real and not in some cases...
