@Kennephone Жыл бұрын
This is finda funny watching now, cause real 1tb flash drives can almost be gotten at that price. they are about $100. The cheapest 1TB SSDs can be had for just under $40, although I wouldn't use them for anything but bulk storage due to their lack of dram and just lower build quality. WD black gen 4 drives are $59 right now.

Would an actual 1TB stick even use FAT32? I'd thought it's be NTFS at that capacity. But these test things I find a lot easier to just copy some large files to it, it's a lot quicker.
@hellterminator9 жыл бұрын
Yes. FAT32 can handle up to 16TB. It is used as a default file system on pretty much all drives because the manufacturers want them working right out of the box and FAT32 is the newest (or more precisely least antiquated) file system with absolutely reliable support on all major platforms.

What the fuck are you talking about? Where did you get that information? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. There has never, ever been a 1tb 2.0 flash drive. Ever. The first 1tb flash drive was released in 2013, there's literally no point in making a 2.0 drive with 1tb because building a 1tb flash drive is so costly that you might as well make it 3.0. Transferring a 1tb file to a 1tb USB 2.0 stick would take a little over 30 hours.

+vwestlife that is a good computer, those old optiplecs are awesome if they are set up right with enough ram and modern graphics card
@realgroovy249 жыл бұрын
43128lucky4 Depends on the Optiplex, some of them did have capacitor issues *only* because of the crappy Pentium D or 4 CPU's they used which generated a lot of heat. but they're still good computers otherwise and throw in a Celeron or upgrade heatsink or recap it then the system will last a long time.

I run old gx620s and a few 745s, three 755s, and one 760. The gx620s are the sff versions with the built in power supplies and they have pentium d 930s and Radeon 5450s, they run insanely hot but after three years constant us with windows 7,8 and now 10 I have not had any heat damage issues. The 700 series machines all have core 2 duos and Radeon 5450s and all form factor types run cool. Overall quite pleased with them and now have htpcs in almost every room and two Of the 700 machines I built up for my parents. All were free or goodwill/eBay/Craigslist scores bought dirt cheep, built up with parts I had lying around. Only thing I paid for was graphics cards and those were on newegg for like 10 bucks a piece with rebates

So how would this USB drive function in casual and real-world use? I mean it shows up in the file system as 976Gb so obviously Windows thinks it's that size, and under normal use we're not going to be running tests that last days at a time. As there's only practically 8Gb on it, does that mean that once that threshold is reached, existing data would start to be overwritten resulting is file corruption or deletion?
@vwestlife5 жыл бұрын
Did you actually watch the video? Because if you did, all of your questions would be answered.
@FlyboyHelosim5 жыл бұрын
@@vwestlife Yes I have, twice. But all your testing and opinions are based on running that program and don't necessarily translate the same to a real-world scenario.
