Before you comment, read this: No, device manager or properties would not show the real capacity. The drive has been set up to misreport its size. The host OS cannot detect the true capacity. Formatting doesn't do anything useful either. The video is As long as it needed to be. I don't target any specific duration when I edit my content. You might see ads for Wish alongside this video. I don't have control of that. If you think about it, it's rather lovely that they're spending money imposing their ads against this vid If you're confused about why you can't see the reflection of my camera in the screen, take a lesson here: www.physicsclassroom.com/class/refln/Lesson-1/The-Law-of-Reflection If you think I should have used a screen recorder, you're right, of course. AtomicShrimp I have a fake iPhone 6s with a 32gb "external" SD card mounted inside, the "internal" card reads as 64gb, but it's actually about 2gb. No utility reports the actual capacity of the device, the native internal android jellybean operating system is skinned to look like iOS 9. No matter what size SD card I put in it (it's hard to do, done it a couple of times), it always says capacity is 64gb within ES Explorer. So this does not surprise me at all
@martinj96476 жыл бұрын
Social Spit unfortunately it's very very easy for Chinese manufacturers to do this, as well as enter fake branding, VID(vendor ID) and PID(product ID) numbers to make knockoffs seem real at first glance, and hopefully (for them anyway) long enough for buyer protection on eBay, Alibaba, AliExpress, etc. to run out before someone puts enough files on them and realizes their old files are just being corrupted or overwritten to keep up the appearance that it still has plenty of space left -_- I can imagine how highly annoying this would be, especially if you're like me and just push all photos and large files to external storage.

Awwwww, I wish this video was around about five years ago when I fell for this stupid scam. I bought a 2TB flash drive for something crazy cheap, like in the single digits $$. I was a dumb teen at the time. I uploaded YEARS worth of stuff onto it, including screenshots of my friends and I in video games, concert pictures, pictures of my babies (aka my current and late cats), school work that I was very proud of, etc. So naturally, I was devastated when I went to access everything on it a while later and everything was gone. I deleted everything from my PC after I uploaded it, so everything is just gone forever. Did everything I possibly could to get it all back. I know life will go on, but it’s really heartbreaking. This video is almost 3 years old, but it's about 2 weeks late for me. Bought a 2tb USB from Amazon, and although I've been ripped off before with random stuff (i.e. movie posters printed on plastic sheeting), I figured it was cheap enough to see if it was legit. I checked it out on my PC and even reformatted it in FAT32 so I could use it on my PS2, and everything seemed legit. So I copy all of my ISOs over and play one game - and come to think of it, it's the last game I put on there, so that's why it worked. But all of the other games give me fragmentation errors. And now I know why. Thank you.

I don't think that's supposed to happen normally. I went ahead and ordered a few cheap items to see what it's all about, and here's what I learned. 1) A lot of vendors hide the important product information in novel-length (poorly written) article descriptions. Learned that the hard way: Ordered what I thought would be a complete set of brush pens, only to receive two random-colored ones. Not a scam per se, but of course one should call shenanigans on this sort of deceptive behavior. 2) Most of the electronics sold are garbage. Fortunately, you don't need to order electronics off Wish to come to that realization. There are a few genuine vendors who buy bulk electronics and sell them for cheap through Wish, but they are lost boats in an ocean of scrap electronics. 3) The items are usually much, much smaller than you imagine them to be judging by the pictures provided. A lot of vendors use pictures of small Asian women hands holding the items to create the illusion of size. 4) If an item is "free, just pay shipping", stay away. You're going to end up paying shipping costs and garbage removal costs because that is what you get: Junk, garbage, refuse that some guy found in an abandoned warehouse. 5) The article reviews are extremely generous (because you get partial coupons for each review) and should not be a factor in your decision of whether or not you want to order something. What I have learned in summary is this: If an article on Wish seems too cheap, it usually is. If it is reasonably priced, you can find the same item for either the same price or cheaper if you don't mind buying used. Plus, you don't have to worry about returns and customer service if you order anywhere else. Anyway, thanks to AtomicShrimp for taking one for the team, and thanks for reading my little exposé. (=

@ZombieDragQueen6 жыл бұрын
Isn't garbage disposal included in your taxes? I have had good experiences with Wish, BUT... here are the caveats: 1) Always check product information. A lot of vendors can use the same pictures between them, so you need to check the product information so that when you get the item you can hold the seller (and Wish) accountable. So if it says "Russian bride" make sure the product information lists the town she's from. If it doesn't then you might get one from Crimea, which technically is Russian soil, but not exactly what you wanted. And you can't really blame the seller, because you purchased a technically Russian bride. 2) Sizes: a lot I've browsed included size information. If it doesn't then stay away from it (and if size is an issue, that is). I've bought clothes from vendors giving detailed information about sizes. I bought a size bigger than I normally wear and it fitted perfectly. 3) Free, just shipping can be a good thing if you also checked the product information. Why? Because you don't pay customs/import taxes for what is free. 4) Avoid one line user reviews. Look for reviews with pictures. Most user reviews are 5 stars followed by "Arrived two weeks earlier. Haven't tried the product yet". Beyond useless. At least I use and check the item and try to give a more informative review. That it arrived two weeks earlier than expected is not a feat in itself. Whish just puts automatically one month shipping so they can cover their asses if an item takes more than two weeks. It's like people think China is some sort of magical land and they send their exports by carrier pigeons. 5) Don't rush to buy anything because it's "80% off - Almost out of stock". Sure, I really believe that Legend of Zelda hoodie is $100 and you're giving it for $10 out of the goodness of your heart. Or because you're insane - "Come down to Bill's Second Hand Cars, we have such huge discounts we've been literally diagnosed as being insane. Aaargghh the cars are spiders! Get them off me, get them off me!!!" So yeah, follow these rules and you'll find some decent stuff there. A lot of stuff in retail is just made in China with the company logo. Why not get the same thing at a third/half the price?

@@ZombieDragQueen "So yeah, follow these rules and you'll find some decent stuff there. A lot of stuff in retail is just made in China with the company logo. Why not get the same thing at a third/half the price?" See, all of the points you've made appear to be valid, but--and this is a big one--you are not getting the same product. Most of the stuff available on wish is, simply spoken, garbage. It's basically a site for either lazy or easily-addicted people where they can throw away their afternoons getting on top of "the best deals". Which would be fine if you were actually receiving a great deal. However, wish feeds off of a very basic human need to collect, evaluate, and then collect some more based on the evaluations made. Simply put, they are trying to trap you in a feedback loop: Receive *amazing* deals → purchase saving oh-so-much → feel good about yourself → receive coupons _immediately_ → receive *amazing* deals → make more purchases saving oh-so-much... You get what I'm driving at. Paired with all the coupons you get for doing the most mundane of tasks and daily-deal wheel (which has yet to reveal its unique qualities), you got yourself a honey pot of consumer goodness. Well, but that's not so bad, you say, because you get awesome deals. Well, maybe once you consider that 95% of those deals consist of right out scams, knock-offs, recycled-plastic garbage and, in particular, electronics that plainly were manipulated to be something they are simply not (see the esteemed video we are commenting under), the deals don't seem so great after all (more so, since you can easily find equal and better deals if you are willing to do the leg work. No, I am being serious. Of all the products I've ordered, there were an amazing zero of which I could not have gotten cheaper or for the same price used or from a local vendor.) As far as your refutations are concerned: 1) This is a moot point because there are no checks and balances in place to ensure a correct correlation between product and product information. I do believe that is the original point I was trying to make. 2) Sizes: I have never ordered clothing off wish. I was, however, talking about _product dimensions_. Do I really have to explain the difference between "clothing size" and "product dimensions"? 3) I have ordered 3 items exactly from the category "free, just pay shipping". They were either complete, absolute garbage or damaged beyond use. Tell me again how I can get a refund on free products? 4) Ah, yes, the user reviews... I did specifically not mention the "damn, received my bag of garbage one week earlier than initially assumed-5 stars"-reviews. Because, I don't know if it's due to an active supression of buyer's remorse, or whatever's at play, but most reviews are absolutely unwilling to *honestly report that they've been duped*. And, of course, they wouldn't be. Any review nets you coupons, after all. 5) Would be a valid point if the wish corp, or whatever their situation is, had any control over this. Vendors on wish can pretty much put whatever they want in their item descriptions and stock size and whatever. Wish is interested in selling as much shite as possible to as many people as possible because they receive a small cut off every purchase. Beyond that, they don't give a rat's ass about customer service, customer rights, or any of the many customer-protection laws established over the last 20 years. That being said, if you like wish and want to continue using their services, go for it. Please, buy as much of their products as you can, so we don't have to.
@ZombieDragQueen6 жыл бұрын
@@raptorjesus6120 - You make a valid point. Wish is like in app purchases in smartphone games. They prey on the few addicted, because most people will see right through the scheme. And that is something that each country (individual, but also the European Union or in case of North America the USA, Canada and Mexico). I agree with you on a lot of things and even I put these 2TB sticks on my wishlist and then did research on it because I'm not an idiot. There's a price discrepancy between a "real" product and the knock-off when considering purchasing. If somebody offers you a Rolex for $30 you'll ask them to fuck off, but if it's half the price of the real one, like $10000 or whatever it costs you'd listen to the seller, like "Basically a real Rolex, it just didn't make the cut because there's a scratch here on the bracelet". So it's the same product just without the warranty, but aesthetically, mechanically and functionally the same. Again, I cannot stress enough the importance of product description. Of all products I've purchased I haven't been able to find them cheaper (or at all) here. 1) There are but it depends on the country. Here in Sweden Wish made a deal with the postal office where they cover the tax on the product's price, shipping and handling fee. Unlike Aliexpress where you'd have to pay these taxes yourself. In practice the total amount would be pretty much the same since Wish raises product and shipping costs to cover those taxes. But at the same time the payment goes through a reputable Swedish payment service. So you're insured. Also the EU has strong consumer protection laws. So it would be easy to get my money back if I get cables made of copper when I ordered cables made of silver. Besides the vendors rarely want products back because they produce so much they don't want it. On a occasion (that was on Etsy though) I kept the product and they refunded me the whole amount for a product. 2) I've checked motherboards, watches, sex toys, they usually do include a picture with actual size in cm and inches. If it doesn't then as I said, stay away from it. 3) Have you tried to contact the vendor and Wish and get your shipment money back? The product page doesn't say "faulty garbage, pay us to send it to you". Just raise Hell with the vendor and Wish and they'll just refund you your money. Do what everyone does when talking to costumer support: scream and demand to talk to the supervisor and threaten to go on youtube and twitter and facebook and expose them. 5) Vendors on Wish have to adhere to Wish's rules. As I said, the vendors can be vague in the description of the product and the pictures, but it doesn't mean they are breaking Wish's rules or scamming the buyers. The buyer has to take some kind of responsibility as well. That being said, the system with coupons and discount wheel and all the bullshit should be better regulated so it doesn't look like a casino. I've maybe bought like 7 things from Wish, so I'm not a big spender. I always do my research and assume some responsibility.

In a weird way, the refund is the bit that annoys me the most. Their readiness to refund you with no return almost makes it seem like they expected to - that it might be a regular occurence with the products they feature. It could also be seen as a way to keep punters sweet and discourage them from posting bad feedback or reviews. They know they're selling lies and they attempt to keep selling lies with as few people as possible knowing it. But you did precisely the right thing here, IMO - letting people know just how much of a scam it is. Denying Wish a certain amount of customers when they see how dishonest the products are. (I've had a few unsatisfying experiences at a certain auction website recently. Does it show?) Edit: sorry, meant this as a general comment, not a response to Popejimbo. Oh well.

Thank you. This is most helpful, believe me! I will be taking a cooking class and penmanship (Calligraphy) class and I wanted a flash drive with plenty of storage to save certain parts of each class. Guess I will have to stick with 512 GB and below. That should be more than enough storage. Love the table decoration!! Thanks again from the U.S./Bronx, NYC. :-)

The computer disk needs to come back !! There needs to be a disk that has the storage capacity of the USB. The USB is the most stupid illogical computer invention ever.

@@danielm3670 Is this a troll? This is completely irrelevant to the parent comment, and disk drives still exist, usually much larger than a USB stick.

The reason the file had zeroes rather than data from your text file is probably along the lines of: when the data wrapped around to the start of the drive it would overwrite the file allocation table, meaning the file system looks in the wrong place on the drive for file contents.

If at the description of the item they feel it's necessary to tell you, "This item is perfect!!!!" (or prefect in this case), that should also already be a warning sign that it's a scam.

2tb storage - hard disk bigger than most of mobile phones 2tb storage - drive smaller than your finger. Possible but definitely not cheap and definitely not reliable.

When I was little, I bought 64gb sd card from electronic store while on holiday and after getting home, I have experienced something simillar. Though I was able to add 8gb of data to it before it started corrupting itself, I could not uderstand it why it did it. Today, I found your channel and this video. There is no better explanation for this. Thank you. You have amazing content.
