FAKE TAN REVIEW / A Week With St Tropez Purity Bronzing Water Gel

Self tanner addict and expert here!! At least I like to think i'm an expert now, after all these years of regular try and error 😂... Just want to point out that a self tanner that has no color guard, like a clear liquid, mousse or gel, or a white cream, is not suppose to stain your surroundings (clothes, furniture etc), when it has no color guard, the only thing that works to give a color to your skin is the DHA wich reacts with your top layer of dead skin cells, so unless you didnt exfoliate at all before using, you shouldnt lose your brown dead skin cells right away after using your selftan... Also, these kind of selftans are often formulated with a small or medium amount of dha, cause the more there is dha, the more orange you can become, especially if you have a light skin tone! If you want a dark selftan that doesnt turn orange, you got to use one with a color guard in it, cause even though it's not the color guard that deepens the skin, it still "stains" the skin enough in the first 2-3 days to conteract the orange tones (greenish color guards are the one who works the best in my experience). The more pale your natural skin is, and the more dha concentrated the formula is, the more deep the color guard should be! And the best for the color guard tint to last on your skin is to use a very mild cleanser (or not at all) in the first few days... By the way, using a big kabuki brush to apply on the face, hands, feet and other difficults areas helps a lot!! 🙃

hey! this helped really much so a huuuuge thank you! i just wanted to ask if you had any suggestions for a body self tanner that only uses DHA to give color to the skin instead of a self tanner that almost just “stains” the skin for a couple of days and then comes of fast.

@@klaraamaliehauge2967 like I said, the best is a combination of the two if you dont want to get orange, unless you want a really light glow, then in that case I would suggest tanceuticals lotion 🙂

I just bought this self tan and I get really dark in the summer, but super pale in the winter. I was wondering if this would be good for me to use. I still have some of my tan lines from summer, but they’re fading, as I regularly exfoliate and it’s winter. I also bought the face mist and did a color test on my hand, but am still so nervous because I’m scared I will miss spots since it’s clear. I do not want it to end up orange, but from the swatch I did, it looked more olive than orange. Should I moisturize all areas really well before applying?

This has definitely tempted me. I only tan on holiday and so I’m rubbish at it. I used sunkissed gradual tan in light - medium last year and loved it. So cheap, easy, natural and no streaks. It even lasted at a water park. Would love to see what you think of the sunkissed products x

Your video actually made me bought the Water gel. I’m super excited because I had some BAAAAD and rough times with self tanners with an intense darkening and with the colored guard. If this won’t work I might try the purity Mousse. This sounds so great as well. But a gel is in my opinion a nicer thing to have because it won’t need so much time to soak into the skin. Did you ever do it?? Really late here, but I just bought the water gel and the face mist and I want to try it but I’m scared! I get really tan in the summer but really light in the winter and I’m starting to really lose my tan with exfoliating and everything else. I’m really nervous to try it. I use the foaming water version of this you just put it on and then leave it on drys almost immediately and no staining or transfers it’s my HG as it’s so quick easy and idiot proof as I am milk bottle pale usually so any mishaps show strongly lol! I also like the vita liberta tanning training water that’s good too! Love these videos your YT and Insta content has been so good for ages now! ☺️ xx

No fake tan that works will ever stop having that fake tan smell. It’s to do with the tanning chemical reacting with your skin that creates the ‘fake tan’ smell. That’s why some people have different ideas of that scent (e.g. vinegar, biscuits) because everybody’s skin reacts differently with the chemical.

No, Isle of Paradise is just patchy. I love Jules, but i don't think isle of paradise is very good. I chuck on St Tropez Purity, Luxe Bronze mousse or the rapid tan one and they all come out perfectly even. I use exactly the same technique with isle of paradise ( gradual, drops etc) and they all come out patchy and streaky

Don't worry Tracy, no transfer here. The scent will take differently for everyone but the tropical scent is definitely a great choice if you are not a fan of typical tanning product fragrances.

Yeah its bizarre! Spray tans stick for a day or two, but any shop-bought tan I've tried (cocoa brown, st moriz, palmers etc) rinses straight down the drain. I perhaps should invest in a pricier bottle, just worried it'll do the same haha 😂🙈💲
