Fake Tissot Le Locle? Be aware!!!

Reviewing what it seems to be a counterfeit Tissot Powermatic 80. "Micro Adjustment Wheel" vs "Traditional Adjustment/Regulator". Not to mentioned that watch died after approximately 42 hours after being fully wound.

It’s easy to tell! Record the second hand in slow mo and count the ticks per second. If it’s a fake ETA2824 it will be 4hz movement. Tissot take that movement and the “improvements” are to modify it to 3Hz (at the expense of accuracy) to get 80 hrs power reserve.

I never thought people would be faking Tissots! I figured anything below a grand is not worth the hassle. But if they can counterfeit Seiko padi, they would counterfeit Tissot too.

It's common sense. Always buy from Authorised dealer if you don't want problems. I'd avoid Jomashop too.

Hi guys , similar thing was about to happen with me. I recently contacted a seller based out of Mumbai , India who is selling me Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 in various colours at half the retail price. He said that you can check the watch yourself or have it checked from Tissot itself. He also mentioned that the power reserve will be around 36 hours instead of 80 hours. So what I suspect is that the watch is original , but the movement inside is fake as is the case in this video. Therefore the serial number and everything you look for in a fake watch will check out but the movement inside is a fake.

Try servicing the watch..not saying the movement is genuine, but the power reserve can go down on originals too

Let me share my experience: I recently received a gift-Tudor BB Heritage, which features the MT 5602 movement that's supposed to deliver 70 hrs of power reserve. If you watch the manufacturer's tutorial, they suggest around 30 turns of the crown to be fully wound up. Guess what? It didn't last even 36 hrs. I was devastated because the watch was purchased from an AD. But then I decided to do 60 turns, which bumped the reserve to 55 hrs, hmm... Then I read a post in the forums that said 80 turns. I did that, and voila-got 82 hours!!! There might be a deviation but not significant. I wouldn't b*tch about 2-3 even 5 hours, but let's say 30-40 hrs is a big red flag. The old version of Le Locle did have the original ETA2824-2 movement, which the dial would indicate “Automatic”. I can see your Tissot here is the Powermatic80 version (aka the current releases), and as you can tell what the Powermatic80 is, then that seals the deal of this watch: it’s a fake.

Every watch has llll instead of IV because it's esthetically more pleasing. It's a norm for the majority of the watches for centuries.

The good thing about it is that Le Locle comes with an exhibition caseback. Get a magnifier and inspect the movement when it arrives. It should have no regular adjustment. On the perifery it should have the ETA logo/emblem with the caliber number. And the most certain proof should be the power reserve. If it dies after around 40 hours then it's 100% not a Powermatic 80. Mine looked it's been worked on and it had a regular adjustment. Hopefully, the seller accepts returns in case it turns out to be a fake movement. I'd suggest to buy one from Jomashop. Theirs are 100% authentic but come without the original manufacturer's warranty. Jomashop however offers 2-year(same as the original) warranty, so you're covered.

No, Jomashop is not an AD. But among the Gray market online vendors, offers one of the most competitive prices. They also offer a 2-year JS warranty on this particular watch, which is the same as the manufacturer's warranty (lengthwise). Basically, if you know what you're looking and the price is your main factor, consider Jomashop. The shipping is fast and You'll get the chance to inspect the watch. There's 30-day return period. I hope this information is helpful.

@Moto Dork The chance to get a "modified " (I call it fake) from JS is slim. They claim all their watches are "authentic". But I'll keep like 10% doubts, lol. Let's not forget that this particular watch has a see through case back and if you're familiar with the movement you can see if it's original or not. If the caseback is solid you have to open it (better done by professional watchmaker). After all, you have to decide, whether you're after a low price or piece of mind (and spending more).

Bro, try to understand. Everything was legit, I mean LEGIT!!! The serial number, the right configuration of letters, and numbers, engraving, etc. It came with the plastic wrapped up with the little QR -like code, original warranty card... Just the original movement was gutted out and replaced with something else! I knew how Powermatic 80 looks like. If I had registered the watch, it would've come up all right. Imagine you bought a Rolex, but once you open it, it's not 3235 caliber, for example, but something else. Here, with the Le Locle, you can see the movement. I hope we cleared this up...

I went to their official store and was told by the sales representative that the women’s version of le locle only has a reserve of about 2 days (around 40 hours). The men’s version has a much longer power reserve. Any way you can confirm if that statement is true?

I cannot speak about the lady's version! I can only confirm about the men's version that's supposed to deliver 80 hours of power reserve*. *A piece of advice: look on the dial of the lady's model and if it says:"Powermatic 80" then it should be 80 hrs of power reserve. If it doesn't say that, then the salesman was correct. p.s. I'd guess it makes sense that lady's version has less power reserve since it's a smaller case...

Because at the exact time of shooting the video I didn't remember it. Now I looked up and it's "everydaydealsince1997". But you have to understand that one entity operates under different names, especially on eBay. With this purchase the item came from LA and the return shipping label had a name of a person (this one I cannot remember at all) located in NYC. Weird, right? That's pretty common practice on eBay, one seller sells stuff under different profiles, same products with just a slight difference in the price. I didn't have any problems with the return though. They apologized and refunded the money almost instantly. The only question that remains is whether they did the swap of the movement or buy this stuff from someone else and do just selling. Nevertheless, they should be aware about all that because this affects their sales and reputation.
