I don't think MTV is racist, but they're surely money hungry (and all companies are duh) but they don't care about the kpop industry. The "Best Kpop" award I can see lasting 2 years, 4 years at most. Once the trend dies, the american awards for kpop artists will die. Much like how Latin categories were added after Despacito blew up. Also, why was Cat & Dog nominated for best kpop? Billboard and Grammys might be the better ones, but I still got a problems with them. I mostly listen to metal and rock music, and have noticed that bands always get their awards before the show starts. They never get to perform either. I’ve heard that rappers also have that problem with them. Also when Latin artist get invited to the American version of the award shows, they only get to perform when the show isn’t being aired.... in conclusion American media only cares if you have the following characteristics: 1 you’re white or light skinned, 2 speak and sing in English fluently, 3 sing mainstream music, 4 can generate money out of you and your fans, 5 can manipulate you and your fans, and 6 your message (songs) don’t interfere with their agenda or their wealthy investors’ agenda.

I agree with you 100% the was soo good! Just a though of my own though, why is so damn important for Kpop artists to have validation from western audiences/award shows. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just saying, Kpop groups are literally no longer racing to see who comes out with the best music or dance, but it's who gets the most views/get's acknowledged by western audiences. I don't know, I have just been disappointed with the groups debuting and how the groups catering to western audiences are been acknowledged, but groups who stay to their roots and perform what Kpop is about and started as, get's ignored. I certainly won't be proud of that. For example, I look at BTS now and think, is that what success looks like for them. Collaborating with western artists, getting overworked, is that how you know you've made it. I look at Blackpink, people getting introduced to Blackpink are now stuck in the mindset that this is all Kpop is about, or should be about. Kpop isn't western music type, that's why makes Kpop stand out as unique and why so many people love them. They tend to automatically judge all Kpop. They start to devalue other girl groups who work just as hard and harder to be where they are, but that's success, being gorgeous and rocking a badass concept is success in western eyes. I feel sad for Blackpink in a way because indirectly they are being told that this all their cable of, all they want to have to be. I look and wonder, "Is this really ALL they want to be?" "All they want to accomplish?" "All they want to be known for?" What about being a much group that performs to be remembered not to be acknowledged. Whereas there is other groups like Twice, Red Velvet, and Gfriend, who despite ridicule stick to what made them, them and slowly but surely, get acknowledged for how great of groups they are while still keeping their identity and being remembered for the positive impact they are having on Kpop.

I also think it's different now because even if she doesn't promote like what she has done for folklore people still care enough to listen to her, and even if it was not intentional I do think the way she released a completely sonically album with no warning it's in on itself an amazing opportunity to create hype, so that even someone that has never listened to an entire Taylor album would want to now. I was obviously focusing on a marketing and general public standpoint because I know very well that's how award shows look at it. They don't care for artists they care about a select few who still have to work their ass off to get approval.

This was a very interesting video. I want to talk about the Best KPOP category too, like I agree with you so much on this one. Like I also believe they finally recognized KPOP but the fact that it was just a red carpet award was disappointing. Seeing the latin award during the main show I was very touched and happy for them and I couldnt help but hope that the kpop award was recognize like that because like you said kpop is really becoming a thing in the west like BTS and Blackpink are huge, monsta x and nct also had a great year in america so like i really wish they would have actually recognize that and even if bts could not attend they could have reach for Monsta X or NCT to perform or even just attend.

I agree with all the points you made but about selectively calling out people , award shows etc , we have to take into consideration that some people don't know about things , don't research and don't really learn/call out unless they are invested in something. ARMYs are invested in BTS and actively follow , promote , support them so of course , when something happens to BTS that they find unfair , they will rally against it. That's actually something that everyone does. If someone says something about someone , people unrelated to that someone or not interested won't make a fuss about. But the people close to that someone , who are invested in that someone will probably make a big deal about it. Even in more extreme cases like burglary , people will see it on the news but won't really make a big deal about it. But the people it happened to and their relatives will probably care a lot about it and try everything to find the one responsible and hold them accountable. It's something that happens everyday.

Your video was informative and it showed the real motives for music awards in general, however they’ll be some Armys that think otherwise. Some Armys think that Korean awards are biased against BTS because they hate their success and American award shows are racist. Yes thank you for making this video. I was watching the VMAs and the best K pop category came up and I just turned off the TV cuz I knew BTS was going to win. Tbh I think BTS is being to hyped up by America too much. I am happy that they are breaking records and getting a lot of fans and awards but I think other K pop groups should win for once in American music awards. People know there are other K pop groups other than BTS. There is Twice, Stray Kids, Exo, Red velvet, seventeen, and etc. I think BTS having a break will hopefully help other K pop groups get more exposure in america. Cuz again BTS is already popular it's time for other K pop groups to break records and win awards. Omg I thought I was the only one who saw the severe hypocrisy and cherry picking of “outrage” from SOME of the armies. Some only care that BTS didn’t win anything. This discrimination has been going on forever. The thing that makes me upset is that some of the tweets I saw wast calling VMA racists because they weren’t including everyone, they were calling them racist because BTS specifically wasn’t included.
