Music has always been a powerful medium of expression, allowing individuals to communicate their thoughts and emotions in a captivating way. For me, my journey as a musician began with my first song, which was heavily influenced by Khowar music. The enchanting melodies and soul-stirring rhythms of this traditional music from the Chitral region of Pakistan captured my heart from a young age. During my music studies at Napa Nation Academy of performing arts , I was introduced to various genres and styles. However, it was the mesmerizing sounds of Khowar music that struck a chord within me. The rich cultural heritage and unique musical traditions of the Khowar community became a constant source of inspiration for me. My passion for Khowar music was nurtured by listening to legendary Khowar musicians such as Baba Fateh u Din, Iqbal Uddin Sahar, Qadir Khan, Muhammad Hassan, Mansoor Ali Shabab, Gulnawaz Khaki, and many more, created an unforgettable musical experience with The traditional Khowar instrument Sitar , Chitrali sitarist like ,Ali Zahor, Sultan Ghani, Aftab Alam These artists effortlessly blended the traditional with contemporary elements, creating a musical tapestry that resonated with both the young and the old. As I delved deeper into the realm of Khowar music, I became captivated by the intricate melodies and intricate rhythms that defined the genre. Every composition told a story, painting vivid pictures in my mind. The poetry accompanying the music added an extra layer of depth, highlighting the importance of the lyrics. The folk songs, ghazals, and Sufi poetry created a mesmerizing fusion that left an everlasting impact on me. Inspired by the rich heritage of Khowar music, I decided to compose my first song. Drawing upon my understanding of the genre's rhythmic patterns and melodic structures, I strived to create a piece that would reflect the essence of Khowar music while adding my own personal touch. “Farkhrkheyokorum” A beautiful blend of Khowar, English and Urdu, the process of composing my first song was both exhilarating and challenging. Under the guidance of expert musicians at NAPA Sir Nafees Ahmed HOD of Music department at Napa Sir Nafees Ahmed is a highly accomplished and respected figure in the music industry One of the most remarkable aspects of Sir Nafees Ahmed's assistance was his ability to understand and embrace the cultural fusion in my song. I had incorporated elements from the Khowar language, English, and Urdu to capture the essence of my upbringing and heritage. Sir Nafees Ahmed not only appreciated this fusion but also encouraged me to delve deeper into my cultural roots, emphasizing the uniqueness it could bring to the music industry.
The positive responses I received from those who heard my first song were overwhelming. Many commended my ability to stay true to the essence of Khowar music while infusing it with my own unique style. It was a testament to the power of musical heritage and individual creativity working hand in hand. In this composition, the melodious tones of Khowar interwove with the expressive power of English Lyrics, while the Urdu poetry bridged the gap between different cultures. The fusion song celebrated the beauty of diversity, connecting people from different backgrounds through the universal language of music.
