Welcome back to the last part of this series. Some of you might be surprised to see what you are going to see in this video, but yes its all real and harmless. I wash all my fur bearer mounts, nothing beats the quality of the fluff that I can produced when I blow dry a fresh fresh washed and shampooed fur. knowing this part of the job will clean everything off the mount, it makes me work a bit faster when Im mounting the cat without being too worried about getting the skin roll over some dirty part of the table or having some glue rubbing on the hair,... I just do my work with good care and if there was any accidents , .. I know they will be washed away at the end. Hope you enjoy the show. We will see you guys next week.

Really enjoying your content and talent! I focus mainly on bird taxidermy have you used a product called Prezervz-it for injecting feet? I'd like to try your method but rather not use formaldehyde... Thanks
@ArtofTaxidermy
@ArtofTaxidermy 3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for your comment. I have used it but many years ago, and don’t quote me on this because I think the feet still did shrink a bit. And I also remember that it smelt like formaldehyde too.

Hi Cameron Most of my hides will get shipped to commercial tanneries. I only do the small mammal skins by myself. Next time I’ll film it although it’s very simple.

Curious, I mounted a half life size bear about a month ago just did all the finish work on it, and while doing all of the final grooming I noticed there is a dust inside the thick fur that I want to get out. Would it be OK at this point to do the same thing with this bear that you did with your bobcat or am I too late? Should I have done it right after I mounted it?
@ArtofTaxidermy
@ArtofTaxidermy 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael. You can dry blow the mount any time and any point. But Being mounted a month ago you can use a spray bottle and spray the whole thing heavily wet ( I wouldn’t hose it) with water only. Then towel dry followed by blower. It will rejuvenate the mount and hair and makes it fluff up.

Maybe I am wrong but it looked like the whiskers were gone early on and then reappeared at the end? I've heard of people pulling them and then putting them back later, but haven't seen that process. Would you be willing to show that if that's what you did here? Thanks I enjoy your videos!
@ArtofTaxidermy
@ArtofTaxidermy 3 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s what I did. It’s best way to keep in planted in proper shape. Unfortunately I didn’t film the finishing part, I wish I would have. But I will show in the next mount.

Can you do this to older mounts like bobcat, racoon, coyote, etc to clean and fluff? If not, what do you recommend for cleaning mounts?
@ArtofTaxidermy
@ArtofTaxidermy Жыл бұрын
yes and no... but very very carefully.. the moisture SHOULD NOT get to the skin... you should only wash the hair. Id use shampoo foam with a small rag or towel on the surface of the hair and quickly dry with another towel... when all done .. blow dry gently.

Good morning Mr Ben! How in the world did you get that Bobcats sideburns for lack of a better word , "so perfect " ? Would like to see your techniques for grooming after everything is blown dry. For instance sometimes I think I can use my pet groomer blow dryer and actually over dry the fur. I'm assuming because the are eventually gets too hot. Looking forward to watching your new flying Goose tutorial
@ArtofTaxidermy
@ArtofTaxidermy 10 ай бұрын
Good morning Mike.. you need to pull them out and then planted back in with super glue .. I can’t even remember that video if it’s showing the technique or not. But I thought I have shown it … well there are cougar mounts in the horizon I make sure I show it on them.

I'm sorry for the confusion ben, I don't mean the whiskers, I mean the nice Tufts of hair that Circle his chin . Mine are usually seemingly farther back, so I try to pull them forward and put some caulking in there. But again the way you groom is immaculate and I would think we all would like to see your grooming techniques for the face and Toes Etc thank you Ben, Mike
