I'm just learning about all this, but what's with all this Singa hate? I'm not going to remember all of IX's tracks because I haven't played the game yet (i.e. no emotional bonding with the song), but apparently Singa worked on Ys VIII, specifically Iclucian Dance, A-To-Z, and Night Survivor, all of which I thought were absolute fucking bangers. A-To-Z was probably my favorite song, aside from Next Step Towards the Unknown. 1: I did read up that Singa apparently did some hentai OVA work, but honestly, what does that matter? That's just porn. Which I'm 100% everyone here has seen at least once. 2: Perhaps not all his tracks are amazing (I do not know the other tracks), but not every piece someone composes will be god-like. Like how every game a company makes isn't worthy of The Game Awards.
@holonholon11414 жыл бұрын
His arrangements are weak due to the poor mixing, dynamic range, and the really awful VSTs he uses. That said, I think the root compositions are incredibly strong, so I think it's just people mindlessly parroting the Singa Hate Cult.

So, I'm still pretty new to the Ys series and Falcom in general, but is Singa really as bad as the Falcom fandom makes out to be? Because what I'm hearing from this track (and a few others from this game) he composed is really good. Not just in this game, but I also loved his work on Iclucian Dance, A-To-Z, and Night Survivor in YS VIII. I dunno, a majority of YS IX's music is an absolute banger to my ears. Yeah, there's some misses, but eh. That's just me.
@liliumbells5 жыл бұрын
He's not that bad no, definitely not to the point where this amount of blind hate is warranted. I imagine if we didn't know who made those tracks people would complain a lot less except for tracks they really think are bad in which case everyone would just immediately assume they were made by him i've never seen anyone hate on either of the 3 from VIII you mentioned before this Singa hate train became a thing and now I see everyone saying they're bad anytime I see anyone mention them in a talk about Singa
@The_Admiral_Angel5 жыл бұрын
@@liliumbells It's pretty strange. I know Singa's work isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I personally love some of his work in VIII and IX. It's probably due to me being a newcomer to the games, and haven't grown up around Falcom's older titles that I'm not as harsh about Singa's work as others.
@JinTekyta5 жыл бұрын
I am also thoroughly confused by this, as someone that got into Ys back in 2011, and has played at least a version of all the games up until now. I don't get the hate for this one composer. I honestly couldn't tell you who composed what just based on listening to it. As much as I like the series for its music, things in Ys VIII and even IX end up sounding kind of samey. Like just.. y'know, anime rock. Which is fine, I enjoy it, but there's just nothing that stands out as a signature for any of the composers to me.
@The_Admiral_Angel5 жыл бұрын
@@JinTekyta I can kinda agree with you on Ys IX's music, but not so much on Ys VIII's. There's tons of tracks that really stood out to me. Sunshine Coastline, Drifting Village, Eroded Valley, Iclucian Dance, Night Survivor, Gens d'Armes, Next Step Toward the Unknown, Lacromisa of Dana, etc. There's tons of variety in VIII's soundtrack that isn't just "anime rock." If you wanna talk about a video game series with music that sounds too samey, Motoi Sakuraba's work on recent Tales games is a good example of this.
@ChrisDoesStuff9995 жыл бұрын
What people hate is the fact that Falcom keeps using Singa cuz apparently it's cheaper for them to use him to make tracks over other composers. Meaning that he has to do more of what he isn't very good at as well as what he is good at, so you get a lot of hit and misses with his tracks. Also, I think what a lot of people hated was that a lot of his tracks in sen IV were honestly really bad. He had a few good tracks in 3 but in the 4th game he honestly made the soundtrack pretty bad overall compared to the rest of the games.

Not much of a "banger," imo. I'm not familiar with this Singa guy, but this track just sounds like a standard reiteration of the perennial Falcom battle theme, rather than a particularly powerful or memorable take on the style. It's not bad, but it's not great either; it's just "fine." However, the fact that someone doxx'd this guy just because they didn't like his music is so disgusting I almost find it hard to believe. I worry that in another decade the basic civility that we've lost because of the internet will be impossible to retrieve, with kids growing up in a world where they never even get to experience the baseline of people having simple respect for one another.
@AokiKatsumata5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this. We need more comments like that to spread awareness regarding doxxing on Internet. I can't stand that kind of behavior either, people NEED to show more respect to one another, and especially online since it's so easy calling people names when hiding behind a screen and a pseudonym.
@collisioncoursegaming47165 жыл бұрын
Respect is becoming more uncommon on the internet as more people act “toxic” toward others. It’s just disappointing to see.
@Margatroid5 жыл бұрын
@@AokiKatsumata You're exactly right! I think it's the lack of real personal interaction, the lack of shared space and tone of voice and eye contact, that makes people act in this way. I think when you're capable of imagining that the person you're interacting with is a real person, and capable of feeling how they would feel, it keeps this kind of behavior at bay. But many people increasingly seem to be unable to use their imaginations in that way. The only thing to do in response to this is to push back, and strongly. People who can't use the internet with empathy should be forcibly expelled from it.
@AokiKatsumata5 жыл бұрын
@@Margatroid Totally true. Internet is no real life, you don't get to see the others, see their reaction, feel their emotions or their intentions; so it's as though they're less "real" in your eyes, and that's when things start to go bad. Maybe also the fact of others not appearing "real" makes it difficult to trust one another, and trust is essential to maintain a climate of peace and respect.
@Margatroid5 жыл бұрын
@@AokiKatsumata That's a really good point about trust, and I had never thought about that specifically in relation to all of this. It's very true that when people feel they cannot trust others, they become defensive and often hostile. I have thought before that many people seem to not have many real friends these days, specifically because their allegiances lie more with the mass-mind online than with their actual in-person friendships, and they're more concerned with "what they think the internet will think" than are with attending to those real individual relationships. I had one "friend" who was very much this way, who I couldn't talk about anything controversial with because he would freak out, obviously imagining that somehow his participation in a "non-PC" conversation would be revealed on the internet somehow. I am not friends with him any more, and I think the main reason is that I never felt like he trusted me, so I did not trust him. In contrast, I've had close internet friends who I trusted with secrets about myself that I wouldn't tell anyone else, even my family. But those friendships existed mostly before the advent of social media.

He doesn't do all the music in the games. Though i'm not on the the "joke" about hating on him cause i don't get it either. You're right, the games still have great music and the some of the songs he's done are good. Some i get why he's not great, but nothing REALLY bad. I find it funny you didn't include Sen 4 because that's when i saw comments about people complaining about him.

@@AkumetsuLord I haven't really listened to much of Sen 4's soundtrack outside of a couple of battle themes, but the ones that ive seen people complain about (Deep Carnival, Ashita e no Kiseki's instrumental) I really like those. I get that its not everyone's tea but c'mon people need to be reasonable. Lol

AkumetsuLord People are complaining for the sen iv op, just for the rap segment, those people are stupid.

How are they sjw though

@@di-gun5791 they tried to cancel him just because he made music in a hentai game.
@di-gun57915 жыл бұрын
That's less sjw shit and more like ridiculing singa because he was in some cheap hentai ova
@di-gun57915 жыл бұрын
not that it matters, some of the mainstream figures in anime industry have done hentai anyway

@@di-gun5791 at this point sjw has lost all meaning. And no, the reason he was doxxed was not because he did hentai music, it was just because the guy that doxxed him really hates his music.
