Just throwing in my thanks for your videos. In about two weeks I went from knowing nothing about aircraft to being comfortable in the BMS cockpit. Even got trackir I've been enjoying myself so much over the last month or two. People like you keep niche communities alive.

I miss the days when you could buy a flight sim that came with a manual large enough to qualify as it's own coffee table. There's something satisfying modern generations might never know about it...a successful Falcon mission from start to finish requires so broad an understanding, so varied a set of competencies....You have to be a Pilot, a Soldier, an Airman, an Engineer, a Physics major... I miss those days. But, if we never return to them, I think I can live with your tutorial videos. Most such videos on KZbin are 5 minute affairs, especially in other games. You have 10-15-20-/30/ minute tutorial videos. I know how much work that takes to set up, both in and out of game. Thank you.

+HotaruZoku I believe that with BMS those days are still here, because i personaly own 5 books (that i photocopyied) and still there are things that are not even mentioned.. so yeah. preety much the same..

Krause, There are a few videos describing different aspects of BMS, toturials and so on, but none come close to the level of your videos. Your coverage of both basic and advanced concepts is not only informative but also very efficient. I really appreciate your dedication and the fact that you are a good teacher. I am still learning the ropes but you have helped me enjoy this sim very much. Thanks : )

+Krause Yea man thanks your vids are fantastic. They help newbies get into the game, without them BMS would have a lot less players.

BARCAP is barrier combat air patrol, the concept is that you fly to a patrol area for X minutes, defend the airspace, then RTB. If you double click on the target steers in the 2d screen for the BARCAP you'll see the required patrol time. That means you need to fly between the two patrol steerpoints for that duration in order to "win." If you want to go out there, kill some migs, then RTB, i reccomend flying a sweep instead.
@erad1c80r13 жыл бұрын
@tanit Pretty sure The Cabal is referring to the green ECM light that is lit to the left of the left MFD. If that was off, the Mig migth have launched earlier.
@EduEnYT12 жыл бұрын
You have to remain on your patrol area (within about 10-20nm from the target waypoints) for the assigned time (usually 30 minutes) and you cant fly beyond the FEBA. After those conditions are completed, you can do whatever you want. I sometimes refuel and go back to patrol the front and repeat until I get tired.
@tanit11 жыл бұрын
Make sure the RWR is powered on. You'll know if there is a lit green crosshair in the middle of it. If not, go to the ECM panel and power it on (bottom left)

6:48 the missile will still fly towards the last pitbull point the launcher aircraft sent to it. If you happen to have moved far away from it when the missile turns on its radar, it might not find you at the last point the launcher told it you should be at.
@therealgsicht12 жыл бұрын
indeed, but one should also mention that the Adders Radar has a slightly shorter Range then the Amraams Radar, Adder can be fired earlier but goes pitbull later.

Sounds like the RWR is in "hand off" mode. Check that it's not, it's a button to the left side of the RWR.
@Essah1513 жыл бұрын
@tanit great tutorials. one thing though. At 06:23 you're talking about the Adder/Amramski/ but give a bit of wrong information. the Russian designation is R-77 (not R-60) and It's an active radar missile, not semi, which means that It won't need guidance from aircraft if it's turned active (not semi active) at which point the M will appear (M being missile radar pinging you). So basically, if you see an M it is already active and therefore close and won't need guidance from host aircraft.

@Dee-Jay12 жыл бұрын
Not sure ... maybe I didn't understand everything you said (?)... but I think you made a mistake at 13:30. The RWR switch on CMDS panel is not to turn RWR on, but to link decoys dispenser to RWR. So that in AUTO mode, RWR will be able trigger CH/FL launch. Same about Jammer for JMR swich.... ;) Sorry If I've misunderstood you.

@tanit I know but still. DCS has gotten dynamic cockpit shadows only recently. What version of DX has been used for that? I always like to throw Free Falcon / RV / BMS graphics engines into faces of some more lazy graphic guys who are not able to achieve the same using DX two version numbers higher.

Kudos to you Kraus. Really appreciate your Tutorials. These are VERY informative and helpful. I'm just getting into BMS. Started Falcon 4.0 years ago (1998), then AF and just recently learned of the BMS product -- new life breath of 4.0. This ole dog has been out of the fight for a while so your videos Will help! How did you get the threat symbology to pop up (the white screen)? Thx.

Ive played Falcon 4 ecer since I got the game as a gift back in 1999... However at the time I did not have a proper joystick to really enjoy the simulator. Now that I have a HOTAS Cougar I really want play the game as much as possible, HOWEVER Im having an extreme difficult time mapping and configuring the buttons to what I want them to do. I have the orignal Falcon 4.0 but I also have Falcon 4 Allied Force. I like Allied Force so much more so I intend to use that platform. If possible could you make a mapping video and or message me on how to program the system. I REALLY would like to use the buttons as in real F-16. I honeslty would need a str8 from scratch type of instruction because programming really isnt my thing. Thanks!

How do I keep situational awerness during campaign? It's impossible to use data link there and since I can't tell friend from foe I loose my situational awerness, fall off course and off mission and end up going home without completing the mission and without engaging any enemies, while often letting my wingman down as I go back home on fumes... Ideas anyone?

+Nitai Hativa soft-lock targets and declare to awacs to find out IFF. Also don't go running way off course to engage bandits that are 80 miles away.
@nitaihativa2138 жыл бұрын
well i'm now ok with that but a new problem occoured: i keep getting sa14's launched at me without knowing, and they never hit, it's just a matter of time until they do tho...
@mookie345458 жыл бұрын
Nitai Hativa That's because the SA-14 is an IR guided missile, which the F-16 doesn't have any warning system for.
@nitaihativa2138 жыл бұрын
well then how can i detect IR launches? can't be eyesight only...

Hey Krause, I don't know if you're answering questions about this tutorial anymore, but I have a question about the RWR. When in-game I never hear the tones of hostiles hard locking me. I can see all the threats and which directions they're in, and the alarms go on when a radar guided missile is inbound, but there is no change in threat tones right before the moment of being launched at. Am I missing a step when turning on my RWR?
@piston_777 жыл бұрын
mmmm, why would the SA 2 search radar appear and dissappear? That is not real. And it is incoherent with what you explained about the S button filtering the search radars.

The RWR only registers radar contacts, it does not detect heat seeking missiles. You probably got hit by heat seeking missile. If the launching plane does not use radar, you wont get any warnings.

Wow, an 11 mile AMRAAM shot in DCS doesn't mean jack to me. Pretty easy to evade any missile in that game so long as you notch or pump.

Hey Krause, I really need some help setting up my Falcon 4 BMS and HOTAS. I've put my flight sim aside because I just can't seem to get it working. For example, using my stick to steer straight , but it steers left and crash during take off. Any help you can provide? Negruv0da is on point about your videos. I can't seem to get my sim as solid as yours.
