I'm guessing that you weren't born when the team was constituted in Atlanta(1966). Well I was, and nothing has changed. Other than a couple of WS wins by the Braves, this city is a sports disaster. I had to deal with this guy for 6 years. He took over a Vikings team with Prime DIGGS, THEILEN, KENDRICKS, BARR, COOK, RHODES, HARRISON SMITH, LINVAL JOSEPH, EVERSON GRIFFEN, KYLE RUDOLPH, HUNTER on & on, in their prime!! The vikings were stacked. #1 defense in the league, best 3rd down defense in NFL history, crazy weapons. He pissed down his leg every year. Every FN year. That roster eventually errored & they bring him back with JEFFERSON, DARRISAW the current foundation. Im telling you guys Kirk Cousins is the biggest false hope fraud in NFL history. All national people see is back of the card stats & they assume hes great. He kills your cap & doesn't allow you to build with ironclad contracts, no flexibility, no trade clause. Really pay attention too, every game flow is exactly the same with him. It's a white knuckle, down to the wire, frantic situation. That energy weighs heavy over the team whether people realize that or not. He doesn't make "big time throws" out of fear. Hes admitted this & written about it. Hes too good for you to tank & not good enough to get you anywhere & he always gives you false hope. You guys will lose out on the division end of the year because of him. I said it week 1, i said it when they were 6-3. I've seen this script over & over. The worst part is he'll win when the pressure is off & completely F up your draft position too. The guy is a nightmare.

Kirk got caught up in the love affair with the fans when he was ballin. Swag surfin, hanging with hip hop artists, showered with praise and attention. Now he thinks that he must be spectacular making big plays to live up to the hype. He's gotten greedy and impatient, staring down receivers instead of goin thru progressions, underthrowing, overthrowing, oblivious to open receivers and making horrible decisions.
@bryanjones444418 күн бұрын
He had the worst game of his career, no doubt. He is also having the worst season of his career as a starter, no doubt. But going through progressions is what Cousins does better than any quarterback in the NFL. Actually better than any quarterback ever has. Let me explain. Only once in the history of the game has a quarterback completed 60 or more passes to 4 different receivers. That was Cousins in 2022. In 2023 when he was injured he was not only on a pace to do it again but would have completed at least 64 passes to 4 different receivers including 114 to T. J. Hockenson. This season he is again on a pace to complete at least 64 passes to 4 different receivers and 50 passes to a 5th receiver. Only Fran Tarkenton in 1978 was on a pace to do that with his 5th receiver catching 47 balls in a 16 game season. Make no mistake about it the biggest difference in the Vikings success and the Falcons disappointment so far this season is about coaching.

These high caliber players, make ANY QB look good at times. Just look at these acrobatic catches, they have to make!
@bryanjones444418 күн бұрын
I think that Kyle Pitts uninspired play is one of the biggest reasons for the Falcons offense's lack of success. He is a phenomenal athlete who can't or won't block and cannot get open. Coming into this season Cousins was the top rated quarterback when throwing to tight ends over the last 10 years. Last season Hockenson was on a pace to catch 114 passes when Cousins was hurt. It was the worst game of Cousins career without a doubt but there is a lot more wrong with the Falcons offense than just Kirk's play. I put most of the blame on the offensive coordinator. All that said Cousins, having his worst season as a starter in his career, is still 4th in the league in yards per game. Let's not hit the panic button just yet. Cousins was the runaway MVP the first half of last season when he was injured and set the record for 4th quarter comebacks the year before. He is also the 21st highest scoring quarterback of the last 77 years in the REAL GOAT scoring system. That is the most comprehensive evaluation of a quarterback's career ever created. Even if the Falcons continue to crumble this year a change of coaches or at least the offensive coordinator will have him back at the top of the league and the Falcons on top of the division next season.
@ATL_Konner18 күн бұрын
You’re still in the NFL. Your job is to always catch the ball or block it needed. If Pitts didn’t give up on his route Kirk would have 3 picks instead of 4. If Pitts wants the ball maybe he should get open, we seen Kirk force the ball to him. It’s been picked.

In my opinion it is incredibly difficult to find consistent success in today's NFL when you don't have a QB that can extend plays with their legs. That aspect single handedly addresses many issues teams have, and would in my opinion solve a lot of the issues that the falcons are facing. When it comes to our receiving core, including tight ends, the Falcons are having difficulty getting open early, and a QB extending the play helps with that. When it comes to pass protection, which the Falcons have been inconsistent in doing properly, a mobile QB can alleviate that. Whether its 3rd and 1, or 4th and 1... those plays with a mobile QB are nearly automatic conversions with a sneak (Something the falcons hardly ever do), or a QB Draw. Almost every issue the Falcons are having can be correlated to the fact that Kirk is not mobile. Penix needs to start. Unfortunately money/loyalty plays way too much of a factor.

Kirk carried us at the beginning, now he’s bogging us down. The last three weeks he’s thrown 0 TDs and 6 ints. He’s getting older and coming off a major injury, he gets worse as the season progresses. We used a top 10 draft pick not to rot on the bench. At least give him a shot
@Paula-mv8im17 күн бұрын
For all of you haters….check Kirk’s performance history sometime. Whenever he has had a bad game, he has played lights out the next game. At the most, he has had two bad games and then the third one he plays REALLY well. So already having two bad games bodes well versus the Vikings. I’m not counting the Saints’ game. They ran the ball a lot and scored rushing TDs instead of passing TDs. Add to that, it’s against his old team so he will be even more motivated to lead the Falcons to a win. He also has this obsession with self-improvement. And, he has experience against Flores defense.
@ATL_Konner18 күн бұрын
The NFL doesn’t work with pocket passers anymore. It used to. Almost every team has a QB that can escape the pocket and break a sack. I rewatched every throw Kirk made against the chargers. He loft it. His velocity is not fast. Michael penix has a fast velocity and we already know he can move if needed.

I do not think we start Penix because he is not ready for the stage yet. I want him to be hungry and absorb his environment so he is set up for success. Remember what Brady said about rookie QB's? All these teams that pick and choose these round 1 QB's are setting them up for failure because they rush these young players into the lions pit right after college with no preparation. College and the NFL are two totally different games even though they are the same sport. Perfect example, the 2021 NFL Draft with Zac Wilson, Justin Fields, Mac Jones, and Trey Lance; what was supposed to be one of the highest prospects of QB's of the season are gone now, except for Trevor Lawrence but wouldn't be surprised to see him out the door soon. It's not their fault that they are no longer relevant, it was the system they were placed in. The teams that drafted them never gave them the time or chance to be watered and nurtured because of the hype and heavy breathing on the backs by the fans. Now look at Mahomes and Love, they sat behind Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers and are blossoming now because the system trusted the process. Now, not sure if that system is with Raheem and Fontenot but all we can do is just watch as the story unfolds. Most of this is heavily on the coaching staff we have because we have the weapons but the coaches don't know how to use them and their strengths. That's why Ridder failed because Arthur Smith wasn't trying to save the season, he was trying to save his ass from getting fired, which is why he switched QB's ever too often. Switching out for Penix just shows more indecisiveness with the teams decision making and low confidence in what has been built. Even if it fails, you have to respect and appreciate what was supposed to be so it builds character and respect for the unfortunate. Yes, we maybe trending the same path as the Arthur Smith era with the ints and fumbles but ask yourself, how do you know Penix is going to be good? What if he's a bust? What if it's the same outcome just like Ridder. It sucks guys, it really does but I think riding out with Kirk until Penix has blossomed enough to take out and show the world and Kirk's contract is close to its end is the best choice. Success doesn't happen in an instant; it takes time for it to develop. I don't want to win just once, I want to win for a really long time.

What an incredibly disappointing game! I went “all in” and became a Season Ticket holder as soon as we traded for Capt. Kirk. I believed that his talent and his personal integrity were just what the Falcons needed to get us back to the playoffs. I think at least 50% of his issues are the result of terrible play calling by Zach Robinson and then when the drive is on the line, Kirk feels the need to force a play to make something happen. I also believe that he sees MP throwing dimes downfield into tight coverage and he says, “Hey, I can do that too!”. I’m sure we’ll stick with him for the remainder of the season but we will likely see MP as our starting QB. I tell my friends, “I paid $150 for my Cousins jersey, but Arthur paid $180M for his Cousins jersey!!”.

And all of this “bench Kirk” crap is ridiculous. Goff threw 5 INTs in a recent gam but the Lions still won. Is Campbell gonna bench Goff though? No, he is not. Because like Kirk, he is the best quarterback to win games. And let me tell you a little bit about Kirk….in his third season in the league (when he was still a back-up), he was throwing a lot of interceptions and got benched. The next season, he had improved so much that he won the starting job over a first rounder. And since then, he has always been intentional about not putting the ball in harm’s way. This 4 interception game was NOT the norm for Kirk.

Sure, Kirk didn't throw a TD in the Saints game but he threw 300+ yards, the Falcons ran the ball A LOT, scored on the ground and only lost by three points. What does it matter if you score a TD with a pass or a run? That was hardly a bad game. Aside from that Saints game, Kirk has only had two bad games. EVERY quarterback 1 or 2 bad games in a row. Guess what? Football is not tennis. If Pitts keeps running his route in the end zone like he is supposed to... that's a TD. The broadcasters said the INT in the end zone was a miscommunication so the receivers were not in the right spot. And if Pitts shows even a small bit of effort and gets some separation, that’s another TD. Drake tripped on that other interception. It's very unfair to solely blame the QB when all 11 gotta do their job. Y’all are just overreacting…smh

I would understand if the last three losses were all blowouts, but the Falcons lost by 3 points and 4 points. But a few losses and it’s bench the quarterback who got us to 1st place in the NFC South. Come on, people, take a chill pill already. Kirk (and the offense) is gonna bounce back like he has done his whole career…..smh. Kirk has only ever thrown 4 interceptions one other time in his 13 year career and that was TEN years ago. He also rarely throws 3 interceptions in a game.

So if mahones lost 4 games straight right now.. would you bench him... And if you blame him for 6-6 then stop complaining about the defense and koo...

Already making excuses for Penix by blaming McGary for sacks that haven't happened yet smh lol. I don't buy it lol, I was told by a fan that there would be 0 sacks with Penix because of his mobility. I will be watching that like a hawk.. lol 😂

It’s Penix easily but we all know Kirk gone get the start the rest of the year

Man go get Emmanuel Forbes and Tyquan Thornton for cheap WR stuck with Kirko

For ALL you "the sky is falling put Penix in" people, the falcons can still win this division, why throw a rookie quarterback in during the middle of a playoff push who's probably taken about 10 snaps all season, and that was in garbage time This fan base think quarterbacks come with a disposable sign on their forehead, they give up on em very easily

Arthur Blank is the problem, hired a god awful coach in Raheem Morris. We’re probably wasting another 3-4 seasons at this point. I’ve given up as a falcons fan, now I just laugh at the clown show for what it is. We are garbage

Kirk cousins is just injured!!!! He needs to get benched because of this. His shoulder and a possible head injury will be the reason why we lose games.
