id rather move on from raheem than terry tbh. terry is decent with cap space and i dont think the cousins signing was his idea. really poor drafting for the most part but hes done a decent job in FA signings. idk how much he has control over either tbh its usually a collaborative effort between the gm and the coaching staff for example pretty sure ridder was arthur smith's choice, penix zac's, ruke raheem's. mooney and woerner were also zac wants for example. terry is just kind of there to facilitate. he had little to no input in hiring raheem either. you could argue that we should get a GM that has more input for sure but most of the personnel decisions are usually the blame of the coaching staff.

I think the problem is the development of the picks. Arthur Smith and Raheem Morris aren't good HC's. Heinicke and Mariota were cheap for QB's. TD left us in financial hell. I don't think TJ Watt or whomever we "Should've draft" would be good here because we can't develop.

Fontenot did a good job of getting the Falcons out of cap hell and has done pretty well with free agent signings, but he hasn't drafted nearly well enough IMO. Teams are built through the draft and you'll never be a consistent winning team in the NFL without drafting much better. The Falcons probably need to overhaul their entire personnel and scouting departments.

You can't have it both ways; you can't say on one hand we have no excuse to not make the playoffs this year with this roster and then on the other say fontenot is a bad gm. Why did kirk wanna come here? Why did simmons wanna come here? They were free agents and could've gone somewhere else. They chose us because of our roster. And especially as falcons fans, we should love fontenot because he gave us a defense that was finally top ten last year even with the bad pass rush. When have we ever had a defense that had any level of presence on the field? When you look at this roster overall offense and defense, it's better than our superbowl roster in '16.
