I just wonder... Is it illegal to seek employment while you are just a visitor? Say if you are just there to get job interviews or look for information. i thought it was not illegal unless you engage employment. Once you are hired, then you could be sponsored by an employer to obtain proper working visa...

My dad took his knives everywhere. He swore that a good chef knows his knives the same way a carpenter knows his tools, a seamstress knows her own machine etc. He didn't ... however take CVs.

People don’t bring 20+ physical copies of their CV on a trip if they don’t intend to work or seek for it. That woman can (fake) cry and deny all she wants, she was planning to work there. Period. Same goes for the girl in the second story: she had background-check documents and her insurance card but no cash, no credit card and above all no return ticket….if she wasn’t planning to stay and work illegally, then I’m Julia Roberts ((which I most certainly am not)) - and my gut tells me she also probably ran away from home.

Fake colleges and mattress cash for bank accounts. Canada had a bit of a crisis with that; folks will enroll in a "college", which is really just an office in a strip mall somewhere, and borrow the required amount of funds from a loan shark to prove funds to the respective government body. Then, they make it in the country, and have to pay back the money PLUS exorbitant tuition fees for the fake college PLUS interest from the loan shark.

What I’ve never been able to understand is why they don’t keep it on their computer, and print them out later. It’s not rocket science! Everyone keeps their resume on their computers.

A law student without common sense but just want to enter UK without any cash and financial support surely would be rejected. A visitor should provide a return ticket and proof of paid accommodations to convince the immigration officers that the visitor is for sight seeing purpose and would return home after the short stay. If the visitor is sent home right the way, then the air ticket going to UK is totally wasted without anything achieved, but leaving a rejection record in the UK.

Yes, he did. She said it, too. Looks like between 18-30 you can get a First Work and Holiday Visa but you only get to do that once. A permanent employee visa is under 45, and since I think she’s 41, I don’t know why she couldn’t get one of those.

That woman with the knives had a guilty look about her when she was resigned to her fate of return.
