I had the opportunity to interview women in prison who were caught with drugs from Jamaica and they said that the drug lords from that country usually threaten to harm their children or family if they do not transport the drugs for them. The women were happy to be caught at the airport because they said that they will never be told to do it again as they will be known by security. You can tell that the young women from Jamaica is naive. She could have done that under duress.

47:35 that is about the exact reaction I got in Atlanta when going through customs and telling them I had controlled substances with me, meaning oxycodone and diazepam. But the man thought I meanr heroin or cocaine and was declaring that, so his reaction was one of disbelief. But when we were clear about what I meant he actually birst out laughing telling me I nearly gave him a heartattack lol. It was my first and only funny interaction with US customs, it was nice to see him being able to lighten up from the normal formal (and my guess is rather bored) behavior. I won't forget that reaction soon, even if it was already 9y ago this year.

The toilet the Lithuanian guys used was actually really cool. In the northern frontier of my country, where some very poor people from producer countries sometimes are caught on buses and taken "to the loo", it's literally a regular toilet and they use some sort of plastic strainer. I saw how they explained that once in a report. Don't ask me how it works. I think in the airport, they're taken to a health facility. It must be disgusting anyways, but it looks better than doing it like us in the third world countries! (Yep we used to be a country of passage to Europe, until it didn't work out anymore and some population become addicted/users of coke, since we are neighbours).

@@caughtinaction Ikr! I think it's only used for immediate emergencies when they can't hold it in, and the police border patrol has to watch while the person do the deed. It seems they can't do it in a proper toilet either, so they have some sort of low pressure water hose. It's a really sad situation, I will try to check if I found more about it here in KZbin, I watched it on TV by chance. People suspected of smuggling drugs inside their bodies are always transported to health facilities which have at least better condition for the process, X rays and medics in case of any emergency.

Customs thought that my friend was the actual smuggler. They sent her to a military hospital in Caracas where they proceeded to a THOROUGH and humiliating body search. Needless to say, my friend missed her plane. When she finally arrived in Paris, she was so traumatized she couldn't stop crying for two days 😢
