A timelapse movie of the Falkirk wheel in Scotland, the world's first and only rotating boat lift. At one time these two canals were joined by a series of 11 locks which took half a day to traverse. Now it can be done in 7 minutes!

It’s much bigger and more awesome when you’re standing beside it. I have taken many American friends for a ride on it and it never disappoints. The Kelpies are in the same town. They look great in photos but are huge and very impressive up close. Well worth a visit.

Pure water weighs exactly a kilogram per litre... That's how the metric system was devised

but say theirs oil from an old boat or rubbish doesn't that mean it would weigh more? I've been there. there is no water filters on the wheel or gondolas
@chemicalBR0
@chemicalBR0 3 жыл бұрын
@@ruairiwatson9758 no because anything you put into water displaces the exact weight of water equal to the thing you put in it. (Archimedes and all that jazz) if a 50 ton boat goes in one side and a 100 ton boat goes in the other, both tanks still weigh 500 tons (when a boat goes in the tank overflows with the weight of the boat) the tanks ALWAYS weigh 500 tons regardless of what you put in them.

That's how amazing the wheel is. You cannot believe your eyes. You are desperately looking for something to reinforce your prejudices that this cannot possibly exist, so you point to the trees, not realising they are in timelapse.
