IN LOVING MEMORY OF CORP STUART Mc LAUGHLIN 3 PARA . DIED ON MOUNT LONGDON 1982.AN AMAZING HUMAN BEING , I WILL NEVER FORGET
@WHU63Ай бұрын
I read Jimmy O'Connells book " Three Days in June" a few months back. Everywhere I've read about this war Stuart McLaughlins name comes up in terms of courage and leadership. He might not have received the medal he deserved, but he has the love and respect of all who served with him. That in itself is an immense statement from all his colleagues.

I remember it well. My brother served on HMS Fearless during the conflict. I think of my poor late mother glued to the TV, every time news of a ship being hit in San Carlos was announced. RIP all those who never returned.

Nice one Boyed, Mick and Tomo. I remember Boyed’s patrol team getting back to C Company after one of their many moves forward, the first thing Mick asked for was chocolate! The ‘Patrols’ really were the eyes and ears of 3 Para.

Thanks for this FITV, it’s always incredibly interesting to hear the stories from any Falkland’s veteran. I was 6 years old during the conflict and would watch the nightly news with my father (former Queen’s Regiment). I went on to spend decades reading anything I could about the ‘conflict’. Hopefully I can visit one day, although the possibilities are slim. Too many, too young RIP.

Poignant when the chap spoke of those lost in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Falklands was an *honest* conflict, for the future a long trem agreement needs to be negtiated with the Argies, to bring a lasting peace. I had school friends down there, and was wuietly envious, and at the same time glad I never made the grade to join up with them in 1980

Read "3 Days in June" by James O Connell It's a full detailed account of the Paras Battle for Mount Longdon. A brilliant read and makes you realise why the Para's are the best of the best.. 🇬🇧🫡
