I am French. I know Italy well because I lived there for 6 years. Currently I live in Paris (world fashion city). And I have to admit that Italians dress better than French ones. Really !!! They like the quality of clothes, beautiful shoes, boots, hats, leather gloves, bags, etc. This is class!!! Even old people, men. They are always clean, impeccable. Their items are really of better quality and what's more, they can be found at moderate prices. They have more affordable and accessible brands. And large sizes, no xs or s....!!! 😊

Can’t comment on Milan, but lots of middle aged Roman women on my streetcar ride into Rome on vacation. Great haircuts, well maintained skin, real leather handbags, straw shopping bags for bringing home dinner ingredients, sensible but stylish dress sandals, and a simple item or two of actual gold jewelry. Very little of the Milan excess. American friend, a well dressed lawyer, commented after his visit to Milan that he looked seriously under dressed at La Scala…and he is a very polished guy.

As mulheres italianas e francesas usam bastante lindos vestidos e saias, é tudo bem bonito e ao mesmo tempo fica nítido o quanto prezam pelo confortável. Percebo que nós brasileiras quase não usamos muito, aqui impera muito a calça jeans, calças alfaiataria e muita calça legging rsrs a grande maioria tem essa preferência eu acho. Ao menos em SP sinto assim.

Italians are also good at buying classic styles , that last for years,, and every year, they add , one or 2 pieces. , or accessories , to look up to date, and fashionable. Here in the states, they buy a lot of cheap clothes, horrible material and style, making them alway looking frumpy . That is the big difference. Yes, there might be Italians that don’t care much, but really not many.

I think if you look carefully you will see some “regular” looks like jeans and pants with tops. I enjoy seeing all of these looks. If I like something and it is high fashion or very expensive I can try to get a similar look with more budget friendly pieces. Sometimes we might have something already in our closet to work with. I am surely not a fashionista but I love looking. Blessings.
