I was never afraid of thunderstorms as a child. My mom would say it was just the angels bowling in heaven and even though I knew that was silly, it made me feel better. My dad would explain that as long as you learned from and respected nature, you wouldn't come to harm, so as long as you were safe and cozy in the house, you didn't need to be afraid. So I always associate thunderstorms with the love and assurance of my parents when I was a little girl.
