The Monogram PzIV was the first model I built back in 1970. It had the Shep Paine Diorama Guide with it, and that got me hooked! WOW, 50 years ago...

Inspiring work, particularly the detail in the scratch building & weathering! Terrific base for an economical price, well worth the time & effort..... Final scene with the panzer is great - well done 👏🙂

Joli diorama, superbe travail.

Looks great, but that very old Monogram kit is 1/32, not 1/35. But it seems to work all right with those excellent figures. And, the diorama base is very well done. Thanks

Yeah, careless typo :-P

Good job boss. Surprised to see that old plain jane monogram kit next to all those sweet alpine figures tho

Yo también he hecho un diorama del frente ruso, con un Panzer IV y un Sturmgesutz IV. De Tamiya 1/35☺️, y camuflaje invernal

How long did it take to build it? Btw. absolute masterpiece.
@41sniper3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Marek, good question. I rarely keep track of how much time I spend, makes me feel like I have to justify it LOL. Overall, it was probably about 4 months. Putting in a few 2-6 hour sessions per week.
@ryanyoung82453 жыл бұрын
absolutely amazing. Only criticism, are the holes in the skirt look way too big.
@41sniper3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ryan, I've heard the "big holes" comment a hundred times but the model comes that way... not my call. It is after all a cheap Monogram kit I used to get started back in the hobby after 30 years idle.

What are the basic paints and materials needed to start a project like this? I have no experience. only read books or watch movies about WW2. :)
@41sniper3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carlos, let's see if I can help... MUST HAVE: Bare bones basics are a decent selection of Acrylic paints, I primarily use Valejo paints but occasionally use paints from AK or MIG... even Model Masters in a pinch. But Valejo are readily available at Hobby Lobby and they're great. I always prime everything with Tamiya Enamel Surface Primer before painting. You'll also need some good plastic model cement (not that stinky model glue we used as a kid). You want to use something like Tamiya Thin Model Cement. It only works on styrene plastic so it's nice to have some super glue and epoxy glue handy for other materials. Obviously, a nice X-Acto hobby knife, and assorted putty knives. Touch up model putty like Tamiya makes is nice to have handy as well. Hobby Lobby has a good assortment of small disposable sanding files that are important too. The big ticket item is a good quality airbrush and compressor. Not necessary for painting the figures but a must have for vehicles. I use the Iwata Eclipse HP-CS which is awesome and very popular. You'll need some sort of air compressor for air supply. GOOD TO HAVE: A good pair of sprue snips is a great tool for modelling (kinda like small snip scissors for cutting model parts off of the plastic sprue). For working on such a base, you'll need a supply of blue styrofoam from Lowes or Home Depot... as well as a small tub of spackling compound and/or bag of plaster mix. If you want to get into a lot of custom scratch-built details it's good to have an assortment of stock styrene sheets and tubes (also available at Hobby Lobby). I use Krycel products to make the snow and occasionally use AK or MIG products to produce mud, grime etc effects. EVENTUALLY NICE TO GET: Build up an assortment of putties and effects materials from AK or MIG. I just got a styrofoam cutter/machine for Christmas and look forward to using that. I'm sure I've probably forgotten something here but I hope this helps, it takes years to accumulate all the stuff you really will need for a variety of projects. I still don't have all of what I need after decades. :-) Regards, Tom

Beautifully done but the damage on the side skirts look like killing shots that went right through the plate.
@leger2053 жыл бұрын
I agree the size of those holes that tank should be dead in the water so to speak but great job otherwise.
@Darknor933 жыл бұрын
Agreed - that skirts were quite loose mounted at the tank so they would rather fly off than get this big holes in them. But the rest of the tank is made really well. Especially the diorama is outstandig work. The crater in the street and all the handmade bricks are so great details - defintely one of the best dioramas ive seen so far.
@chrisvanderwielen15303 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was kind of curious on the reference photos for those, along with the one on the turret skirting... any links?
@41sniper3 жыл бұрын
The holes were molded into the kit, hence the oversize issue... nothing I could do about it. The ones in the turret skirt were just me making it look the way I wanted it to :-)

The officer looks just like "Panzer" Meyer.

Такие диаметры отверстий в таком масштабе тянут на 122-152 мм, а так же форма отверстий круглая, а не овальная - это значит попадание было под прямым углом. Такие попадания для pz 4 смертельны с любого расстояния.
@karencopp51303 жыл бұрын
Are you on TikTok?
@waffencamo3 жыл бұрын
Damn, with those holes the tank should be a pile of charred metal!
@41sniper3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've heard this a hundred times... the model comes that way
@waffencamo3 жыл бұрын
@@41sniper in that case you had two options, paint it as a ko'd tank or fix those holes, pretty simple imho.
@arsmithx3 жыл бұрын
Another possibility: the pierced armour plates could have been salvaged from another tank that HAD been ko'd by the blast.
@emptyforrest3 жыл бұрын
i just cant get over the size of the holes in the sideskirt, it looks like it has been hit by a naval gun multiple times. that tank should be completely destroyed.
@Stormshadow111143 жыл бұрын
Absolutely Great diorama, but have to agree with you on the size of the holes in the side skirts.
