Fall Color Report-(October 6th, 2023) - Eastern TN & Western NC

In our first Fall foliage video of the season, we go into the higher elevations of the mountains to see the color change up top.

Late October should still feature some decent color in the lower elevations. The cold weather this week, has really accelerated the color change.

Great Vlog Leaf Update ---- During the whole of WNC Falling Colors - Maples will Pop a bright red but with little consistency in timing. -- The only Smokies tree being consistent during this first part of OCT (your ride) is a very deep red leaf from the Sourwood Trees. -- they do are noticed since they like living near the roads (sunlight) but these "cherished trees of the Cherokee for tools and carving" tend to be slender with their leaves sprouting high in the plant...which makes it hard to call them "showy" like those aforementioned maples.

Thank you for your prayers! Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with MS 2 yrs ago. Just recently started my disability. But my husband is a recovering cancer patient and now has COPD.
