Slice the oranges and leave the peel on. The peel is where the essential oils and fragrance come from. Add some cinnamon sticks and a few cloves with some water. During Christmas you can also add a few sprigs of spruce to the mix. I love this blend. I never used apple, but I have used oranges and grapefruit many times, and it smells lovely. Just don’t peel them, and slice into thin rounds next time. In fact, you could use just the peels and your spices and have a better result.

I tried the peel and I still wasn't a fan, but I also still had the other spices in there and I think that's what I didn't like. So I just did apple and cinnamon and loved it! I'll have to now add the orange in with that and see what happens lol good idea about the spruce sprigs for Christmas!

I love adding a few slices of lemon as well as orange, definitely leaving the peels on. Also, apples, cinnamon sticks and I just add a tsp or so of nutmeg and/or allspice. Fill it most of the way with water and keep on low heat so it lasts a long time.

For the potpourri, leave the orange peel on as that is where a lot of the oil is. Same for lemon. I can't do cinnamon (I'm allergic) but cloves work. You need to make sure you always have plenty of water as it will smell burnt if you run too low.

The cloves takes away from everything. My favourite one is apples, apple juice, cinnamon sticks, pumpkin spice, vanilla, if you don’t want to use pumpkin spice keep it with the apple recipe. If you like the pumpkin spice smell use pumpkin filling mixed with water. Low simmer for both. This one I found on KZbin 3-4 lemon’s sliced, rosemary, I like brown sugar with it use water to keep the mixture simmering.

Leave the orange peel on as it’s what holds all the orange essential oils. You will smell it more.
